I'd love to be able to claim this but I have to admit, I found it on another forum: Has anyone else noticed that Ralan is Nalar, spelt backwards?

I'm not sure if Feist is giving us a clue as to Bek's true identity or he's saying Nalar may not be banished anymore. Bek = Back?

 I never noticed that! A good clue, that is. Thanks for pointing it out Valko!:D

That must be intentional. It's not the sort of thing that could just be put down to pure coincidence.

Ralan Bek is a person of midkimia who has a part or a portion of the mad god in him. when a person dies their spirit goes to lims kragma but their mind goes to the gods its how they learn because the gods are only infants

!!SPOILER ALERT!!
I think Ralan Bek contains not the shard of the evil god of midkemia: Nalar, but the evil god of the dasati, and remember valko is preparing the way for the godkiller part of the phrophecy hes meant to fufill, so i reckon Ralan could come up against himself?

What ide like to know is why Nakor finds Bek so interisting?is it becoz nakor has a shard of ishap in him?

Nah, Nakor is just on of those odd little men you get in a story that seem to know something about everything.

Like he knew that Ralan had a shard of a god in him. I guess we'll find out more in this next book.:D

nakors probably interested in him because it could give the good guys clues of how the mad god works and thinks, and any weaknesses or something, i dunno

Nakor doesnt have the shard of ishap in him, i allways thought REF was implying that he had the shard of Wodar-Ispar the midkemian god of knowledge because he seems to know a bit about everything and he carried around the codex of knowledge for hundreds of years one of the god of knowledges most powerful artifacts

Think it's Wodar-hospar, I'll have to check actually. Yeah this makes most sense to me actually or the shard in Nakor could be the God of tricksters etc. which is Banath I think, this just seems to fit his character.
Nakors interested in everything, as Pug says he's the only person who really wants to know... everything.

Didn't Nakor say in one of the later books that he thinks he's got a shard of the God Lady in him? Or am i completely wrong?

It hasn't yet been revealed what Nakor is, he's just said Ralen Bek is pretty much exactly like he was during his youth except Nakor learnt how to control it.

Nakor knows a lot because of the codex of knowledge but that wouldn't explain how he has the same sort of powers as Bek....as Bek hasn't got the codex....

When Nakor discovered the shard of the dark god inside Bek he said he felt something familiar something which he recognised himself....

I do think it will end up with Nakor having a shard of Ishap inside him though...because it is said throughout the whole series that good and evil must be balancedFeist will stay true to that in my opinion.

I thought that Arch-Indar would have to be used to balance NAlar and thats why Nakor is trying to bring her back? Ishap was just the God who did the balancing.

Personally, I think Nakor has a little shard of WTFPWN in him :D

Although seriously I'd guess at Banath/kalkin/trickster guy as ... "there is no magic, just tricks" ;)
