This might be of interest to both those who've already self-published using the P.O.D. companies, and to those who are thinking of doing it.
Some of you will have heard of the famous blog reviewer POD-DY Mouth, (or girlondemand) who has managed to sort out and publicise some very good books from a mountain of P.O.D. novels. She's of little direct interest to most here, as she's a "go easy on the Science Fiction and no Fantasy" reviewer, but she's done a great job for some writers in the various genre that do interest her.
When I first discovered her blog, when she was just getting started, I predicted to myself that many more would follow, including some one genre specialists, and recently I've been surfing around to see what's there.
I've found a good one for historical novels, and as they include historical fantasy, that might be of interest to some here. Also, a general review site with seven reviewers (and they're looking for more) which already has several SF & F reviews up.
Then, yesterday, I found two brand new blogs open for reviews, and from what the two guys were saying, and the way they write, I think that both might be promising. One's exclusively SF and the other exclusively Fantasy. Both are prepared to read electronic files, so it 'll cost you absolutely nothing to submit (you don't have to buy your own book!).
At this stage, I know I should be putting in links to all these sites, but I'm new to 'chronicles' and I'm well aware of the problem of people using forums merely to publicise their own projects. But if I,Brian takes my word for it that I've got no interest in being a reviewer and am nothing to do with any of these sites, then I'm happy to become the 'chronicles seeker out of likely looking places to get your P.O.D. novels reviewed' and I certainly won't include any of the pay through the nose and get a rave review pointless, profiteering sites that have plagued the web for years!
We could use this thread to review the reviewers, so as to speak. I'm not self-published myself, but I think it's a great idea and may be in the future, and that a network of good reviewers is sorely needed, for all self-published novels, P.O.D. and others.
So give me the go-ahead, I,Brian, and I'll put some links here and go searching for more.
