i didn't want to make another post. so i'm going to ask my question here.

does any one know of any books/stories that have a character or story with theives.

a main character that is a thief or a bad guy thief. or just a story line with thieves. ?????

thanks

Many theif books. I recommend David & Leigh Eddings and / Raymond E. Feist.

Juliet McKenna also has some, the Einnarin (!?) or something, but I don't really remember.

For first person, I suggest Robin Hobb's Farseer Trilogy. Not exactly 'good time' fiction, but certainly well-written.

I've recently picked up The Lies of Locke Lamora by Scott lynch, and from what I've read so far, it features a group of gentlemen thieves, who don't act very gentlemanly.
As for first person, I have to agree about Robin Hobb's Farseer trilogy.

I am 1/3 of the way through Gene Wolfe's Shadow. I think this series would be great for your requirement of short chapters and first person narrative.
