Hi, im new to the forums, but im looking for some critique for a book im writing. I've recently started writing it as a blog to help keep myself motivated.

And apparently i can't post urls so i've rpelaced the dots with commas, and removed the http bit at the front.

I read commander in Chief and am going to start on the beginning, is the beginning 'The' beginning of the story? didn't know posting was reversed till I got to the end of CiC

It might be helpful to put a note about that in your blogpage

I like it, the start is excellent, explains a lot in a short bit without being long-winded (something I have to work on muchly) I'm assuming you won't be focusing on a single plotline, which I like cause sometimes even the best single-arc stories can get boring, the changing personas and viewpoints of multi-arc or coverging-arc (think hero team origin stories) stories are able to hold interest much easier

I would like to see this story develop, it definately looks good enough.

-My words are getting jumbled, forgive any... confusions, misinterpretations, incorrect use of wordage-

Thank you for your feedback. Yeah i used to have the problem of long winded talks explaining things, but then i just tried to write things like i was having a conversation in my head so it felt more natural. There is 1 main storyline throughout the book, i will just be covering it through the perspective of various characters, and how the main stroy events effect them each differently.

Oh, and wait until i get to the ending of my book, if it turns out as good as it is in my head, its going to be amazing.

oo, new name for a story-arc type

reflecting-arc (single-arc but it bounces from the perspective of several characters)

I'm a names type of guy, anything interesting has to have its own interesting name

P.S. read my stuff please?

Just been reading your thread, i replied in it.

I like the term reflecting-arc, and does indeed describe my story well.

Well at least for the first book(im writing a trilogy) in the 2nd and 3rd the storyline splits up more.

Ambitious, I like it... I guess, how can one like wether or not a trilogy is in three books or just a really big single novel?

so, not ambitious, merely sectionalizing a large story, so, is the word trilogy just the breaking up of a single story-arc into three large section which we aptly name books?

I think so yes. With my story i think it needs to be broken up into 3 parts as if it were 1 bookk it would be far too big. There are also several points in the story that are perfect to mark the end of one book and the beginning of the next.

you mean like a cliff hanger?

how do you come up with your names? I'm curious cause they sound completely original and that's another trouble spot for me (I have a lot of trouble spots, don't I?) and I was hoping for some insight into how you ...construct(?) your characters

Not really cliff hangers, just events that make a big change, or an important point in the story. The ending of book one is perhpas the biggest event in the trilogy.

This sight is great for coming up with names(gah, had to mess with the address again but im sure you can work it out). If you get good enough at using the site you can make it generate exactly the kind of names you need:

w.w.w,rinkworks,com/namegen/

Other names in my books are based on interesting names i've seen in real life, and quite a few i made up myself when i made up a fantasy universe when i was 13 or something. Not all of them transalted well to sci-fi though.

Well i find it generates some suitably sci-fi-ish names, and if you use the advanced interface at the bottom, using the quick reference guide for help, you can get it to do names in whatever format you want.

I only read the post "The Beginning" but I like what I read. I will read some more tommorow when i have some more time, bit busy with writing right now. Anyways very nice job, keep it up. :D
