Hello. I'm looking for the title and/or author of a short story I read back in the 60's. In the story a ship was recovering from a collision with a metorite. The ship was "alive". The hull and walls had stiffened and moved to brace for the impact. After the impact, the walls with the help of the navigator, internal systems and propulsion unit were repairing themselves. Once all the entities of the ship were repaired, the navigator, the walls, the internal systems, and the propulsion unit all linked their minds together and the ship leapt into hyperspace. It's a cool analogy for working together and team work.

Might anyone know the title and/or author of the story? Might someone have a copy of the story?

I used to think that the title was "Mind Drive" until I found a copy of Mind Drive and it was a different story. Maybe the title is a variation on Mind Drive.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you
