I am looking for a book in which one of the characters is a water witch named Karistna. Does anyone know the name of the book or the author? Please, do tell... Thanks!

I instantly thought of the Connie Willis & Cynthia Felice book as well, but the central character in that one was called Deza, whilst the lead male character was Radi, so not sure this is the one you're after. Can't think of what else it could be though... Good luck, in any case.

I think I know what one you mean. Is it the one with the spirits or something doing the actual magic, and the strength and number of spirits bonded to a person decides their strength?
I think we're going to need a little more detail.

I wish I could provide more details, Faceless, but the young lady I spoke with, and, apparently, her mother, are unable to elaborate.

What is that other book you have in mind? I will check out "Water Witch."

Thanks to all of you!!!

Furies! the spirits were called furies, and the title had the word furies in it. Umm...

 Jim Butcher wrote a series of books involving elemental spirits with 'Furies' in the title -- Furies of Calderon, Academ's Fury and Cursor's Fury -- set in a very Romanesque alternate society. Not really sure they're the ones you're after, to be honest, but they might be worth checking out.

That's the ones I was thinking of. Not sure if they're the ones obiwan meant, but worth a look.
