Here's a chat where I attempted to explain the premise for our lexicon game to Caladan Brood, a little better than in my rather opaque precis :

CB:

urm, so could you explain to me your idea for this collaborative thingy... I am totally lost

JP:

ahhh

JP:

the Xenotheic/Exogenic bit?

CB:

aye

JP:

ok

CB:

and the rest, really

JP:

well the game itself is a bit involved...

JP:

we are a group of cantankerous scholars compiling a reference work ona historical event

CB:

ok

JP:

in this case, in the year 3150 (or something), humanity made first contact with alein life

JP:

which turned out to be very similar to us

CB:

right

JP:

and there was this sort of world religion

JP:

which underwent a split

JP:

some believed that the aliens were gods and made us in their image (Xenotheists)

CB:

ok

JP:

others, that the gods made both us and the aliens elsewhere and depisted us in seperate worlds (Exogenists)

JP:

and the factions went to war

JP:

makes as much sense as any holy war, i trust

CB:

as you do

CB:

yeah

i wanna be sedated says:

and there were several martyrs in these conflicts

JP:

but each side, years later, claims many of the martyys for their own side

JP:

so the dictionary hopes to chronicle the doings of these amrtyrs and fgure out which sides they were on

CB:

ok

CB:

sounds good

CB:

now i understand it it sounds a lot better

JP:

heh

JP:

what we have to do next is create our scholar personas - whch angle we are going to interpret the facts from

BC:

ok
