its Robb

I was not warned of this Memmon post attack, fill me in nxt time lads :)

Jon is the faster so ur comparison doesnt hold, and i was just commenting on your post activity

MemmoN is refering to the description of the two boys when we first meet them in AGOT.

Jon. Apart from anything else, Jon is still alive. Besides, Robb (two b's or not two b's, that is the question) was a bit of a twit. I will miss Grey Wind a good deal more than I miss him. Which is another point, that Grey Wind did most of Robb's fighting for him, whereas Jon had to fight seperated from Ghost on ____ occaision(s) (I forget. I think it was several times).

Jon.
But it's a really hard one because they were training partners and

so they most certainly know each others fighting-habits and how

they have to conter them.
If people who train thogether fight in a competition against each

other it can go on for a very long time because they know their

opponent so well.
I go with Jon because I think he has a grimmness that Robb misses.

Robb grew up knowing he would be the leader of the Northmen but

Jon's chance to get a high position was maily dependent of his fighting abilitys.

No it wasn't. Most bastards' would have been, but Jon was different. Jon had Ned, and Ned took care of his sons, all of them.

I agree that it would be a long competition, but ultimately, Jon would win.

I'd say Jon. Robb, for the most, had his many bodyguards around him in combat, while Jon had to fend for himself largely in one-on-one combat. That, and Jon's just THAT badass.

Would it be too much too ask that they pull an Arryk vs. Erryk?

Isnt Erryck and Arryck a myth from King Arthur,
I think King Arthur is fighting a war against the saxen thus preventing him to find for the hand of his wife himself. He sends his best swordsman instead, this swordsman must fight the queens father chosen champion. (his father is against the match), he chooses Arrick (one twin), and the duel commences, trickery is into play though and when a pause commence the other twin changes place (Errick) with Arrick since he himself is too tired to continue.
However this trickery has no affect, and the duel soon ends with the swordsman winning the queen (guinevere) since Errick is not the swordsman arrick is (or vice versa). Now i amnot sure of what i typed is acurate, but perhaps boaz can make a theory of it, it is his hobby after all.

Also faceless,Jon is quicker then Robb so the comparison doesnt hold.
if you compare Jon and Robb without giving them attributes, i'd say Jon wins, just for the comment he made about Catelyn looking sour and i think he also said that he usually was a tad better.

In one on one combat it would be hard to decide. Robb is the better lance, but Jon is the better sword by his own words. As commanders, Robb has been in and won more battles, but Jon held the wall with a skeleton crew so his command skills should be noted. I don't think Robb could have accomplished that feat on his own. Robb's victories came when he had experienced fighter's to counsil and back him, where Jon's victory on the wall came while he had command of simple common folk and briggands since thats what made up the Night's Watch.

As has been said, it's stated right at the begnining of the books (admitedly by Jon himself, but he's an honest and modest lad so i'd take his word for it) that whilst Robb is the better lance Jon is the better sword. That's why Loras bricked it when gregor cut his horse out from under him and Sandor had to step in to prevent him being butchered. It's all very well being able to knock the other guy off his horse, but you'd better be able to go blade to blade with him in the more than likely event that you fail to kill him - as they are probably going to be rather pissed off ;)

hello by the way guys, hope you all had a good christmas. :)

For all your talk otherwise Robb is a commander, as comfortable with a sword as most men. Jon is a fighter, as tried by the fires of his actions as any man in the series. Robb will know what needs to be done to win a battle, Jon will do it and not shrink. Robb has never known loss or defeat in battle, Jon has known only bitterness. In the end the boy playing at being a man will lose to the man who resembles a boy.

I vote Jon.

Loras did have his back turned, and gregor isn't a swordsman of any renown, he's just huge and has the strength to turn any clumsy blow into a life-ender. Loras and he did not duel... Loras didn't even have a chance to draw his sword. Gregor sucker punched him, killed a kid, and would have slaughtered a dazed Knight of Flowers who was defenceless on the ground.
The Hound didn't initially use a weapon to stop gregor, he gripped the mountains arm.

Robb and Jon... Robb is stronger and probably tougher. Jon is faster and probably smarter... tank vs. ranger... it would all depend - this battle - on which one tired sooner. They're skills are very close... whoever tires quicker will lose. I'd have to go with Robb in a longer fight. Jon in a quick one.
