I don't know why no-one's been talking about Freefall on this site yet, but it's most definitely worth a look: Link.
The basic concept is the chronically dishonest alien Sam Starfall, his robot Helix and a genetically manipulated humanoid wolf named Florence living on a spaceship stranded on a colonized world. The story is about these three characters trying to fix Sam's spaceship and go to space, but the story so far is mostly made up of some outrageous digressions.
The webcomic strikes me first and foremost as very cute and family-friendly, with mostly innocent jokes, but at the same time with lots of explained science. The style is very simple, fitting the story perfectly.
