Gemmell's most dangerous/deadliest character

Well said i dont think any other DG hero was as bad and as dangerous Pagan did then, fighting against so many monsters at once.

What a feat, it made what happened to him much easier since to handle since i liked him so much . Its also very cool of DG to add an african hero to his world.

skillgannon is the deadliest. he his the whole package, a leader and a warrior with a mass of issues going on. he is certainly the coolest, with the best weapons. after reading swords of night and day, i took up sword and stick fighting, haha

I think Druss was the best fighter;he held Skeln pass almost single-handed.But Waylander and Shannow tie for most deadly. If they want you dead you're toast!

I dont know if anyone else mentioned it but if we are indeed talking about the deadliest character in all of Gemmell's books, we have to talk with facts. In the "Hero in the shadows" Gemmell actually solves this question by the following phrase "Ustarte gave a wan smile. 'Nothing that walks or breathes is more deadly than the Grey Man.' " Meaning, ofcourse, Waylander....

Saying all that but that was long before druss was born so he wasnt walking or breathing :D

Sure Waylander's one deadly fecker, but his crossbow only has two Quarrels per load, shoot two guys, then he's dead. ><
Viruk had the edge there with his Zhi-Bow, as far as the Trojan/Mykene Character's go, while they are powerful in their settings, up against any of Gemmel's other Swordsmen I think they'd be easily beaten, for a start they all use/wear Copper/Tin armour and weaponary, Snaga would snap any of their blades :p Plus they havent got any of that true Swordsman Technique.
I'd have to say Skillgannon Or Dace.

Druss is the most powerfull but is really a hero because of his morales. Waylander is by far the most stealthy charecter and in my opinion the deadliest. The Decado from swords of night and day is the best swordsman because in the end he fights skillgannon and has many opportunities to take his life as he is the better swordsman but he does not want to make the fatal blow.
If the situation was a free for all between them druss would win as there would be no escaping the murderous arc of his snaga

If the situation meant that they were looking for each other all over the world then waylander would win as he would track them down and kill them

If it was a sword fight decado would win with ease

skillgannon was bested in a swordfight by decado in sword of night and day in the end but decado didn't want to take his life, and Tenaka Khan is by far the best leader

you forget the troy books, i admit decado is the best swordsman, however, prince hecktor or achilles, would surely beat most heroes...

however, waylander, druss, tenaka, and skillganon are my favourites:)

not forgetting helikaon

Like I said, the Troy characters are inferior to the others IMO, they use copper weapons and armour for a start. Plus back then there wasent reaaally any seriously complex swordskills.

yeah mate i know, but still they would be deadly, and as for the sword skills, I'm sure they could use a sword well...

Many interesting points. But to me, Waylander is the most deadly man alive. He is not stupid. He's not going to ask Druss for a fair fight. He'll stalk him and kill him. Now if Druss can't avoid Waylander, who can?

Deadliest Swordsman is Decado. Many great fighters, my own favourite being Dace and Antikas Karios, but Decado is tops.

Nogusta was a great and deadly swordsman in his own right. Very wily and clever. But even he admitted to Antikas Karios being better than him, even in his prime. I think Chareos, Nogusta, Rage, Angel and Mulgrave are all about level. Slightly short of the best swordsmen.

decado i think. and maybe waylander. he's more deadly because he could sneak up on you. in a fair fight, druss, but i think waylander wouldn't get to that position, he'd take you out before hand. *shrug* i also like him more than druss.

Waylander is by far the deadliest character in all of Gemmells books. The best swordsman, the mind ultimately springs to Skillgannon.
If you read "Hero in the Shadows" you will find that Waylander does get into a fair fight situation after Niallad declares that there is some form of "chivalric code" between nobles and that to shoot down * i can't remember now but will get back to you on it* the opposition would be demeaning to his position as a nobleman, so Waylander takes him on with a sword!!;)

Second to my previous response i would like to throw Kysumo the Rajnee into the mix *Hero in the Shadows* after all he is the most respected of the Rajnee, although he has but one blade he is so skilled he even kicked his masters a**e !!!

That's true but if your going for hero in the shadows then don't forget three swords, i mean even Decado and Skilgannon both taking him on would have some trouble considering he's literally inhuman! I mean Skilgannon had to train for years with his balance but three swords was born or more accurately reborn with even better balance, reflexes, etc as well as having a few life times to hone his skills.

P.S I loved the part(as evil as it may be) where three swords juggled his swords and killed the three noblemen with them in a matter of seconds that was pretty bad @$$.

I think I might make a post/ poll on just DG swordsmen, considering its quite unfair for all the melees when there's Shannow with guns and Waylander with a crossbow.

oh and also I forgot, if you have read
Echoes of a Great Song then you can't forget the one who may be equal to or even superior to Waylander himself; Viruk the Madman now his insanity only makes him all the more awesome:cool:.
But just think of his skill, precision, speed, and over all agility with his Zhi-bow. Waylander was(the big word) almost as fast, and his crossbow would be inferior. Also John Shannow's guns wouldn't be as fast and affective as the nearly unlimited shot zhi-bow, although the bow would be hard to conceal and not as flexible in tight situations.
