Who are the other 5 Cylons?

WOW…. I am pretty new to Battlestar Galactica and it was only after receiving the 3 hour mini series as stocking filler that I have spent the last 3 weeks of my life catching up with Season 1, 2 and up to “The eye of Jupiter” on series 3. Like the rest of you I am eagerly awaiting the 21st January for the next episode “Rapture”

The big question I have for you all is: Who are the other 5 Cylons?

We all know the seven below despite some of them having significantly smaller roles than the others, but who could the others be?

1) Number 6 – The stunning blonde – everyone’s favorite cylon?!
2) Number 8 – Sharon / Boomer
3) Leoben Conoy – The one that got freaky with Starbuck
4) Number 5 – Aaron Doral
5) Simon – The doctor bloke in the farm
6) Number 3 – D’anna Biers – Reporter / religious cylon
7) Brother Cavil – Better known as Ziggy from Quantum Leap

I will throw two in the mix to start with but am happy to listen to reasons for against my initial candidates

A) Sam – Starbucks husband
My Reasons:
  1. When they picked him up on Caprica he seemed to have led a group of survivors to safety. He is not military trained so is he gifted, lucky or had inside help from the cylons?
  2. Should have been killed when trapped by number 6, 8 and 3 but they let him go AND gave him a gun
  3. Decided not to be part of the collaborators –leading to Gaeta being saved
  4. He also refuses to give up on Starbuck despite her antics with Lee – desperate to fit in with the humans.
  5. Generally too much of a nice guy
B) Gaeta
My Reasons
  1. Helped Cylons on New Caprica
  2. Only gave the resistance limited information
  3. A bit smart to be human
  4. No love interest
  5. Would be an awesome twist
These are only my ideas from my 3 week crash course so I may be well off the mark!

Other questions I am confused about are?
  1. How many of each Cylon are there?
  2. Who led the Cylons prior to them following Caprica 6 and Boomer?
  3. How do the Cylons reproduce the base ships?
  4. Does Caprica 6 actually know the identity of some of the missing 5 Cylons?

Good questions,

Other questions I am confused about are:
How many of each Cylon are there?
I think there are probably an infinite number of Cylons of each model. It seems that although they can be resurrected, even within the same model they are all actually completely separate and different identities, and they neither agree, or share joint memories.
Who led the Cylons prior to them following Caprica 6 and Boomer?
Don't know.
How do the Cylons reproduce the base ships?
Back on Old Caprica and the Twelve Colonies?? It must be difficult for them to fight this war with the humans. Probably another reason why they have changed tactics.
Does Caprica 6 actually know the identity of some of the missing 5 Cylons?
In the first Season I would have said certainly, now I'm not sure.

The other 5 cyclons?

George Bush
Tony Blair
Valdimir Putin
David Icke
Keith Chegwin

The five missing cylons are boxed, in the space between download and resurrection that number three is exploring, to her cost. Lucy Lawless is leaving the show before the end of the third season, and all versions of Number Three will disappear. Both pictures from the episode "Rapture".

The object in that picture was actually in the pre-credits before the episode (3.03) last night. I realised that it must be from a future episode and wondered what it was about.

Your second link is broken for me.

I can still edit it as a mod, so I have done that for you.

I find it interesting that they are still pursuing this 'Nature of God' theme and that Glen A. Larson is still credited as a "consulting producer", though not sure if that implies any active involvement. Ron Moore is only credited as "created by" now though, not "consulting producer".

I'm not American but I've read about how the LDS is one of the fastest growing churches in the US. I've also read some fairly derogatory things written about a prominent Senator, Harry Reid, who might possibly be President one day as he is now running for head of Democratic Party. All the comments were simply on the basis of his religion.

I also wonder, with the recent media comments made about Tom Cruise and Scientology, whether if the series was instead 'Battlefield Earth' and the consulting producer was Tom Cruise, if the series would still be made?

The Nature of God thing is interesting, and there are some pretty intimate connections implied between the five unknown cylons and the five Colonial prophets for whom the Temple of Five was built.

Baltar is certainly looking a lot like the conventional image of Jesus with his white robe, beard and long hair, and I'm absolutely certain that's no coincidence.

One reason why Galactica gets away with using so much religion is that it's not set on contemporary Earth. They're looking for Earth, certainly, and I wonder in what state it will be in when they find it... That's why I think a Battlefield Earth with Tom Cruise as a producer wouldn't get made. Or if they somehow made it, it'd probably get rather limited distribution and not much advertising.

Yes, that's the connection I've been wondering about. Why five for both?

Manephelien, your speculation that the final five Cylons are "boxed" interests me. What's your thinking about why they are boxed? Was there a rift between the current Cylons and the final five? Are they more advanced, or less advanced, than the current Cylons?

I think, and this is pure speculation on my part as I've seen nothing to either confirm or deny it, that the five unknown cylons predate the current seven we know about. The seven are programmed not to talk about the five. Number Six told Baltar "We don't talk about them," when he asked, although it would possibly have been more accurate to say "we can't talk about them." It's possible the five created the seven, although there's no proof - yet.

In last night's episode ("Rapture") when D'Anna sees the faces of the final five, she apologizes to one of them and reaches out to take his/her hand (before flashing back into reality, where she's reaching for Baltar's hand). Who would she need to apologize to? If we could figure that out, we might know the identity of one of the final five.

Now that all the D'Anna's have been boxed, does that affect your speculation about the final five having been boxed, Manephelian?

7) Brother Cavil – Better known as Ziggy from Quantum Leap

Cmon now...Ziggy?
Not to get off the point here but the chars name was AL.
Ziggy was the guy/gal (can't remember exactly) who fed Al information through a handheld computer when he was in holograph mode helping the Sam character. Ok, wew that was tough but I couldnt let it pass. Anyway..as for the 5 cylon..
1-4 will be a mix of the following

1. Some debutante from Cloud 9.
2. An overweight ex-child actor turned janitor from one of the civilian ships.
(this person may or may not resemble Gary Coleman)
3. A lounge singer.
4. Adama's other son.
and....5.
dah dah dah dah.....................................

Ziggy was not a person. It was an artificial intelligence computer.

Hey thats right...Gushi was the tech back in the lab.

Ok the Cylon train has jumped the tracks. I would officially like to redirect the thread by stating that Cylon number 3 will have a cd release slated for mid October.
