(Probably Found) Looking for book, Help Please

Hi,

New member, i am being driven mad by trying to remember this title.

The details I remember are:

Based in UK, england then scotland - aurochs, burial mound, mist, main character goes into mound then disappears. He exits the mound way back in the past or in a different dimension story then has swords and demons etc. The characters are scholars i believe from english uni towns oxford area pssibly.

Sorry not a lot to go on but its a eighties/early nineties book i believe could be older.

Any help very welcome.

i know this book .its either the paradise war or the series is the paradise war . its by stephan lawhead and the next one is the silver hand . the main charector is llew or lewis i think .proffessor nettles

Sounds like a Tom Holt book, titled Who's Afraid of Beowulf jist of the story is,an archeologist finds a Viking longship sunken in a Scottish marsh, and a burial chamber for a Norse King who is a bit annoyed to have been awoken after 12 hundred years. 1988 published by Macmillian.
