help....book about astronauts finding a guy on the moon

I'm trying to remember the title or name of the author of a book i read a long time ago....Its about modern day astronauts finding the body of a man on the moon...he's in some kind of pressure suit, like an astronaut. Indications are that he's been on the moon for a long time (million years?) He is a human being, but he's found with a recording device, with a language recorded on it that is completely disimialr to anything ever spoken on earth. I remember the book jacket, 2 astronauts next to a bolder, with the body being on the other side of the bolder, i think......small possibility that the author once worked for nasa, but not quite sure.
