I've decided that rather than have a comments section on my own website, I'd direct people to a purpose made thread here. If you wish to comment or ask questions about anything raised on my blog: Mark Robson’s Blog then this is the place to come.

Hi Mark.

Just read your blog comment about WW1 airmen not being issued with parachutes on the basis that it might tempt them to bail out too soon! I've actually read about that one before and it still boggles my brain. I think there was a quote from somone once about the British army of WW1 being comprised of "Lions under the command of Donkeys." I can't remember who's supposed to have said it but when you discover things like that you can understand why that quote exists.

Oh, congrats on the TKD grading by the way. Does this mean the new books will feature some high kicking dragons? :D

You are closer than you could possibly imagine! :D

There was another quote that I particularly liked, made by one of the more colourful allied pilots after having just been pulled from the wreckage of his crashed aircraft. He was famously heard to say:

"The problem with this war is it's just too dangerous!"

THAT is genius! I hope he got a medal for that quip alone!

I think that quote is supposed to be attributed to someone like Napoleon isn't it? Along with his "Britain is a nation of shopkeepers" comment.
In football parlance; "1-0 to the greengrocers..." :D

Mark,
Is there any way to add a "Comment on this thread" feature on your blog?
Not sure how it would operate in reality but it may result in fans becoming more engaged if they can leave a message regarding one of your entries.
GRRM does something similar on his "Not a Blog" section although I must admit it does tend to get drowned in "me too" type posts.
Just a thought anyway :)

I've just been discussing that very thing with Brian via email. What I'm trying to do is to put a link to this thread at the bottom of every post on the blog, (and having said that I've just realised I forgot to do that on today's - will fix that right now) though I suppose it might be better to have the comments visible on my website rather than people having to come here to make and view them. I'll have another think about it. If I have the comments on my website, then it will give me an extra policing job to do, but it shouldn't be too onerous.

Well it can spiral out of control but it'd be worth it as an experiment I suppose.
I wouldn't link them all to this thread though, otherwise you'd have people have multiple discussions on multiple posts on your blog which could get very confusing! :)

Brian has now very kindly set up a comments option on the blog, so there is no need for this thread to be stuck any more. If people do wish to comment here on things from the blog, that's fine, but there is now the option of doing it directly onto my website as well.

New post on the blog is 'Breakthrough'.

By the way, there is a slight issue with the blog template at present - shoves the right hand menu to the bottom of the page. Am looking to correct that. :)
