Just a heads up about this thread:

http://www.chronicles-network.com/forum/5599-bradbury-3.html

I wanted to bring this up in here first because one of the erstwhile antagonists is a moderator, Teresa. JD first brought this thread to my attention this morning, fearing it would flare up. He'd already posted, to little effect, so I dropped in another, somewhat less subtle post. I had hoped that would end it - Curt certainly seemed to want to continue the thread, rather than the argument - but Teresa has posted again, in what could possibly be seen as either the result of frustration or as baiting Curt further. I certainly know that this isn't the first time that Teresa has responded angrily against slights - intended, percieved or otherwise - in regard to her being a published author.

I open the floor for thoughts...

JD pointed it out to me too.

At the moment - it looks to have calmed down, but I'm still watching to see what comes of it.

Definitely a dodgy situation. Teresa seems to have become particularly touchy and seems to be taking everything personally in recent months.

Her last statement makes me wonder if she wants to leave but is looking for somebody to give her a way out (she may feel obliged to be here due to the fact she has her own forum)

I think Teresa said she'd leave ages ago but 'unfortunately' she has basically made her author's section on here her 'official' website.

Teresa is definitely stalking around looking for a fight these days - shame really. I guess becoming a grandma hasn't mellowed her out at all :)

I'm glad to see at least that Curt didn't retaliate to Teresa's last post. It seems everyone skipped over it and kept on with the discussion at hand, thankfully.

It seems to have cooled, and Teresa does seem more easily antagonised recently - but it certainly wouldn't be the first time we've had mods look like they're having a more stressful time and expressing that on the boards.

I think the main issue is one of whether a mod is stating opinions on a personal or moderator level - Teresa's made a point that she's speaking as a writer (personal capacity) not moderator (official capacity) so in that regard, so long as the discussion calms, no foul made - just heated discussion.

On the other hand, if the discussion flares up on the thread again, please bring it to my attention and I'll PM both to ask for why they feel agitated.

I've been watching this one for a couple of days. A similar thread, this time in Aspiring. The last two pages in particular. While there's no venom it's still dissappointing to see a member feel hounded until he no longer wants to be a part of the forum community - particuarly when it's amod on the other end. Teresa has every right to express her opinion, but here - it seems to me at least - common sense should have told her to stop banging on in what was fast becoming an atagonistic situation. To be honest I fully sympathise with PenDragon in this case, which is why I thought I'd mention it in here... Not sure what can be done. I might PM PenDragon to see if I can change his mind any.

She seems to have developed a strong case of the 'tl;dr's and a bit of a thin skin. PenDragon appears to have decided to duck out of the forum, which is a bit of a drama king move, but things needn't have gone this way. A small note of advice ('take deep breaths, count to ten, chuck your grandchild on the chin instead') might help.

Added: Pendragon's been asking for a couple of his fiction threads/posts to be removed, but I declined the request. Otherwise, as stated to him, we'll end up with lots of people expecting the chronicles volunteer staff to simply chase after them, and that's certainly not fair on them. :)
