I read a book probably about 12 years ago. Its about a young man who can travler between dimensions or time I'm a little sketchy on the details but he has a marble with a river flowing in it and I remember that the book's beginning was set in Mexico on the Dia de Muertos. He was there with his family getting cancer treatment for his mother. I would be super super happy if anyone else a vague notion of what i was talking about.

Sounds interesting-- I'm sad that nobody's come up with it. Do you know if it was written by a Mexican author and/or with Mexican protagonists? That would probably help narrow it down...
