really put it all together as i've read?

I think it's time a for a little clarity to set up the 2nd half the series.

I'm in the UK, and have not read a lot of fantasy, indeed after Tolkien and some Covenant this is really my first major foray.

I knew GOTM would provide a steep learning curve and it did, i thought it a little too ambitious and over reaching to be honest but never the less enjoyable, for a 10 book series i'd expect an ambitious opening.

DG and MOI were both fantastic if a little flabby, with both maybe a little too busy. The Chain and the battle for Capustan were amazing. Deadhouse seems the most popular Malazan novel so far and it's easy to see why. I think every book has been better than the last so far.

I'm currenty about midway thru HOC and i really enjoyed the Karsa storyline thru "Faces in the rock", as the series progresses i see SE's writing getting tighter and more enjoyable, i thought several storylines thru the earlier novels were too drawn out and did not move fast enough.

I've heard The Bonehunters is a little disapointing, but the MT is the one i really want to read, it's the first chronologically and i'm hoping for some answers and some explanation in this one,

Will i be disapointed? that's my key for this series MT pulling things together as i've read.

One thing is for sure this series will get a thorough re-reading, it's imaginative, adult, EPIC fantasy at it's best!!!!

MT doesn't start pulling things together, you are introduced to a whole new Continent and cast of characters. That said its still my favourite after MOI.Bonehunters is the one that starts knitting the threads together. I was far from disappointed with Bonehunters, maybe not as good as MOI or MT but its as good as any the others.

BTW, interesting you say that DG is the most popular most polls etc I've seen put MOI as the favourite.

I've had bogus info then.

Oh well.

MOI is my favourite so far, i hadn't checked polls or anything but people always bang on about the Chain of Dogs and when people mention a fav it's almost always DG or MOI.

I think i'm going to get read MT and Bonehunters and re-read the series though again - Reapers Gale can wait for me, i have all the sries in MMPB and it it will stay that way.

I've just seen the cover for RG and it's awful, the seeds were set when i saw Bonehunters, i hate changing covers mid series, and these are nowhere near as good as the UK covers 1-5. Shame.

Supposed to appeal to wider range of fans according to the publishers......crap.

MT does give you a better insight to Erikson's magic system.I'm on a re-read at moment around a quarter of the way through MT.Its the only series I know thats even better second time round. Roll on April, I've already pre ordered RG
I'm not impressed with the new covers.

MT confuses things further - the character list is almost completely new - just one major character we've seen before, and an older system of magic. Holds not Warrens...

Wondefulk book though :D

I like the infomations on the holds, I think it shows how much a great author he is when he can show the evolution of his magic system, and I feel it helps round his world off even more.
