Hi, I hope someone can help, as the title says, I can't remember.
Sci-fi short story, probably published within the last decade or so.
The idea was that a way to turn of the part of the brain that determined attractivness had been discovered.
Main charecters were teenagers/young adults, who if I recall correctly had been raised without being able to tell who was attractive or not. I think they might have been in some kind of school.
I remember a couple of details. One, a girl not really understanding why people kept implying that her boyfriend was not good enough for her. (she was under the effect of whatever it was.) Two, someone, possibly the same girl, turning off the thing that blocked her perception of attractiveness (I think for the first time?) and watching an advertisement. She was amazed by the beauty of the model in the ad, as she had never percieved it before.
Also, I think, a boy who had broken up with his girlfriend becoming suddenly aware of her attractiveness and having second thoughts.
If anyone can help me out with this I would appreciate it. I mentioned it to a friend and now he wants to read it, hence me turning up here.
