Are there any fans of the Symphony of Ages series by this author :)

So far I have got -

Rhapsody
Prophecy
Destiny

Then after a break she added onto the series -

Requiem For The Sun

So far these are the only books I have in this series. :D Will eventually continue as I know there as been a further publication.

Just wondered if anyone else has read this series. What did you think of it and have you got the recent book?

Well I've read every book in the Symphony of Ages. It's a really good series in my opinion though I've heard many who've hated it. All in all it's something original, not all aspects of it, though I like a good noevl that can bring you back to the roots of fantasy. Plus I don't usually read novels with women as main characters, not cause Im sexist or anything but because I can't relate lol obviously since I'm male but Rhapsody was well thought out and I found her to be a great protagonist.

The newest addition to the series was pretty good, I think she's pushing it here though the reason I didn't read it right after the end of the other books was because I had enough. Now that I read it I don't regret it though it does have a lot to do with dragons and that really isn't my thing. I'd suggest you pick it up though, just to see for yourself.

I found Requiem For The Sun more political than the previous books and that kinda put me off continuing with the series

Is the next book less political?

I've read all four books so far, and have no info on any others.

There were a couple of things that I disliked about the story, but they weren't enough to put me off.

*******SPOILERS AHEAD***********

********IF YOU DON'T WANT TO READ THEM, STOP HERE :) ********

I found that Rhapsody's 'naming' ability to be a little too easy - the way she 'named' Achmed was a surprise to her. If it were that easy for her to do such a thing unknowingly, wouldn't she have made all types of strange people and things confused?

I was also a little disappointed with the 'surprise' ending that sort of made the entire story to be relatively unimportant.

I did like the unique use of the past/memories that began the story. It was a bit confusing but it was different and interesting at the same time. I imagine the past as a huge reel of film...

I was also fascinated by their travel through the roots of the tree. It was a bit odd that they traveled in time while also traveling physically but that wasn't a big problem.

I found the descriptions and attributes of the dragons to be quite unique and very interesting. Not too sure about Ashe though. How could one be both? All in all though I enjoyed the series and will continue to read if there are forthcoming books.

I also found the surprise ending to the 3rd book a bit strange. I felt cheated

Who else thinks Achmed is a cool character :D , probably speaking from a woman's point of view here :D

Yeah he's cool but he doesn't do it for me as a man though. I'll stick with Johnny Depp :D
But for a dark complex character I think he is probably one of the most imaginative and interesting I've read about it a while :)

i finished the rhapsody trilogy last night. as far as a fantasy book goes, its not the greatest ever, but the love story is beyond phenomenal. i have always been a sucker for a great love story and the love story between rhapsody and Ashe begins from when they were 14 and spans over 1400 years... the pain, suffering, war, deceit, deaths and plain agony they go through to find each other really makes u wonder about the concept of soul mates and true love. this is a couple that i dont think i will ever forget. they stand alongside Jack and Aliena from Pillars of the earth, Molly and Fitz from Farseer and Tawny Man, jim and Holly from Coldfire. Rhapsody and Ashe are a couple for the ages, their story is truly incredible. how do u find someone that u dont know you are looking for? especially when the person is your soul mate...
