Help requested again, please...
looking for the title and/or author of a book I read in the late 80's, but was probably published a lot earlier.
Futuristic in setting, there's children with different talents, like telepathy, telikinesis, all the usual stuff, and they wear different coloured jumpsuits to denote their gift. The protagonist doesn't appear to have a gift, has trouble with the asuhtorities, turns out to be more gifted than they can handle and reinvents society, or similar.
I *cough* long-term borrowed this from the school library in 88 and returned it in 92.... was a good book.
