Still looking for a story :(

Hey all,

Already posted around March last year about a story I cannot find, and i'm still looking and getting mad

I remember reading a story time ago centered around some scientist trying to find a cure for mass hysteria or something. I remember there where towers mentioned in the story that kept the people away by some sort of strobe lights(not sure) and this scientist was also dependant on some sort of drug. He finally manages to find the cure and then the twist of the story is that in fact the scientist had been put to sleep and in an imaginary world with a problem that could eventually really happen.

I would appreciate any help on title/author, moredetails, or anything.

Michael Moorcock: "The Deep Fix". It's in his collection Moorcock's The Time Dweller. It is also included in one of the volumes of that uniform edition of his Eternal Champion Cycle... I'm not sure which, but I'll look that up and get back to you shortly...

Incidentally, Moorcock used this title for the band he played with some years ago.... And the towers were "hypnomats".

Okay... The particular volume of the E.C. cycle is Earl Aubec.

Yep that was it. "The Time Dweller". Darn and the Moorcok books were the only ones I had not checked.
