What was the last book you read that surprised you with the storyline and plot twists? The one that made you sit back and think, "I didn't see that one coming." Mind you, it might be wise not to say what the surprise was, in case someone else hasn't read that book yet.:)

The most recent one for me was Loop, by Koji Suzuki. Without going into detail, I was very surprised by one of the revelations in the story.

George Martin's ASoIaF series surprised me several times at first - I kept expecting last minute reprieves and rescues!

Off-genre - The Murder Of Roger Ackroyd by Agatha Christie surprised the hell out of me the first time I read it - which was also the last time, of course!!:p

Me too, lots of suprises, big shocks in whoa didn't think he'd do that kind of way.

Same here. One other book was Lloyd Alexander's "Chronicles of Prydain: The Black Cauldron". ...I never expected Adaon and Ellidyr's fates. T_T

Although probably mundane by today's standards The Spy Who Came In From The Cold by John le Carre ended with one of the most devious plot twists ever put down on paper.
