And just started reading Eye of the World, 200+ pages so far. Should I continue? I've found it enjoyable, and it seems to have a strange resemblance to Lord of the Rings...

Welcome, Cydon. As a relative newcomer to the world of the Wheel myself, I asked myself the same question. My answer would be yes, keep reading, but keep an open mind about the story. There are similarities between the WoT and LotR, but as the story goes on (and given the amount of books Jordan has written so far, you'll see what I mean) you'll find more and more differences - at least, I have. :)

It's a fairly well written book and the world Jordan has created is interesting as are some of the characters.
Do be aware that this is the beginning of a very long series (12 books so far) and it does bog down and waffle on around the 6-7 mark for a while.
Also the series is not yet complete, but as Jordan is finishing the last book now, you stand a good chance of it being out by the time you've worked your way through the series.

Oh, and welcome to the forums Cydon :)

Thanks! I'm on page 347 now. This actually all started 2 or 3 years ago. My nephew bought me the book Crossroads of Twilight, he didn't know it was book 10. I started reading it, but didn't quite understand it.

I picked up Eye of the World and The Great Hunt at Goodwill, but never got around to reading them. Every once in a while, I'd visit Goodwill and find The Dragin Reborn and Crown of Swords.

So I picked up those too. Now, I'm finally reading them, and wishing I wouldn't have waited.

I'm new too to the boards, but have read the all thats been written in the series so far, and re-read some of it for that matter. Its probably one of my favorite fantasy books. Definitely worth reading, and bearing with books 6-7 (I actually stopped reading for a while around book 6, when I was first reading it).

I love this series!

Its one of my favourites and i would say definetly keep reading! Book 9/10 is a little slow, but book 11 is great and definetly worth the two slow books before it!

Jordan's the Wheel of Time does I think owe a lot to the LotR books initially, (lots of the inspiration for the genre do), but Jordan takes it much further. RJ fleshes out and develops his characters far better than most, though I do tire of reading how beautiful all the women are, and that attachement to characters adds greatly to the experience ............. I thoroughly recommend reading the entire series. A fabulous story exceedingly well told.
