Sci-Fi/Fantasy for those that love sex and violence?

Without going all the way to sci-fi-based erotica and pornography (which does exist), you might try some of the Jerry Pournelle stuff like Jannissaries, or the "Beowulf" stuff he wrote with Larry Niven. Plenty of violence and nasty critters.
John Varley handles sex about as well as anyone in sci-fi....

Richard Morgan's Market Forces springs to mind (only because I read it recently) - there was quite a bit of (non-pornographic) sex & violence in that.

I have been neglecting reading reading for awhile now, but I am in a barbaric mood most of the time, does anyone have any suggestions or recommendations of literature that is heavy on sex and brutal savage violence?
Jacqueline Carey's Kushiel series is quite explicit while still being an excellent, character-driven story (although not that brutal). The old Conan adventures by Howard, while very tame by today's standards, manages to convey a brutal, sexual energy that's hard to ignore- read one of his stories, and if you aren't willing to swap your entire life for one hour of his, you're either dead or gay. The books Aztec and Journeyer (do not remember the author) were so explicitly brutal and pornographic that I had to skip some passages out of sheer disgust- but they are also enthralling reads about pre-spanish Mexico and Marco Polo's travels throughout Asia.

Battle Royale--A Novel by Koushin Takami

Not much sexual content (which is just as well since the charactors of the story are minors). Although sex is a small part of the story line.

Real High on the violence meter though. Comparing the book to a movie I would say the violence is somewhere beyond Kill Bill or Ichi The Killer or a movie of that nature which is to say its extremely gory.

Its the best story Ive read, and Ive read plenty of Sci-Fi.
Yes its poorly translated from Japanese to English.
No, that doesnt matter at all, the story is amazing. I can't say enough good things about it.

Yes there is a lousy movie and a manga based on it that is very popular in the USA and Japan but please ignore the stupid movie and manga..and even if you've seen those sorry examples, the book still holds its own. Like most good creative ideas, the well written book came first and then the hollow and mistreated examples show up as movies or comics. So don't let those fool you. And if you have enjoyed the movie it has nothing on the book, the book is better.

Edit:
Also thought I would add. The writing style is unique to anything I've read before, it is completely cut and dry, deadpan even. Which is refreshing. Koushin will not waste a page or paragraph describing a lengthy sunset, he just tells you what events happen, and you the reader puzzle piece them together to weave an amazing story. Some readers might want a chapter about a sunset or a love sonnet which wastes paper... those types won't like this writing style. He just describes events as they happen, he does not get into the charactors minds to describe their thoughts or anything abstract and artsy like other writers.

American Psycho-Bret Easton Ellis. If you really want "heavy on sex and brutal savage violence" this should cover it. You may wish to skip the Phil Collins/Huey Lewis chapters.

Laurell K. Hamilton's Anita Blake series & her Meredith Gentry series. Some violence, but plenty of sex.

Keri Arthur's Riley Jenson series, about a werewolf/vampire hybrid. First novel is called Kissing Sin.

yeah but thats some of the best stuff

Doesn't he go on about his stereo for a chapter too? Cant remember its that long since I read it.

Anyway having just looked a bit more carefully at the thread title you will probably want to give it a miss as its obviously not a sci-fi/fantasy book.

Mary Gentle's GRUNTS seriously black humour with a bit of rape, plunder and violence thrown in for good measure.

In fact change that a lot of R.P.V.

Jane Addiction Once Wrote...

I am not sure if this will satisfy your thrust for violence, but Kushiels Dart (and the whole Kushiel series for that matter) by Jacqueline Carey has plenty of bondage sexual content in it since it centers around a female character who finds pleasure in torture and pain.

It may not be an exceptional book since the writing and plot formula runs dry by the last quarter of the story, but you may find it an interesting read under your criteria and it is of the fantasy genre.

The books Aztec and Journeyer (do not remember the author) were so explicitly brutal and pornographic that I had to skip some passages out of sheer disgust- but they are also enthralling reads about pre-spanish Mexico and Marco Polo's travels throughout Asia.

The author's name is Gary Jennings, his books fit more into the category of Historical Fiction. If you like them, then I'd also recommend his book Raptor. The main character in it is a hermaphrodite.

Journeyer is definately his best work - it's also the most sex-filled of all his books. Aztec is the most bloody and brutal of the lot. I wasn't very fond of his book "Spangle" though.

I haven't read any of the Aztec sequels.

The Eden series is full of sex -- not too much violence. You can find it on MobiPocket under Science Fiction -> Special Offers
