The Education of Little Tree - very enjoyable.

The story is told from Little Tree's point of view beginning when he is five and goes to live with his Cherokee grandparents after the death of his mother. His grandparents teach him to respect nature and his Cherokee heritage amidst the extreme racial prejudice of 1930s Tennesse.

This story had me laughing as often as it had me weeping. It's my understanding that there was a lot of controversy surrounding this book as the author claimed it was semi-autobiographical and it turned out later that it wasn't at all. Now it is classed as fiction, but there are truths in it concerning the nature of man. I loved this book!

Anyone else a fan?
