hey, i'm Tim and i'm kinda new here. my favorite auther is David Gemmell he's got to be the best Heroic fiction writer out there. the first DG book i read was Lion of Macedon, usualy i dont have a big anough attention span to read any book for more than a few minutes. but lion of macedon took me right into sparta in anceint greece and showed me a boy growing into a man. i got hooked on DG and researched him getting 2 more books Legend and Sword in the storm. but i sadly found out that just 3 days after i had gotten lion of macedon he had died. now i have read the entire rigante series ive red lion of macedon and the next in its series Dark Prince, ive read legend, chronicles of druss, the legend of death walker, the king beyond the gate, quest for lost heros, troy lord of the silver bow, and troy sheild of thunder. i wish i could have met him once in my life or talked to him over the phone or something but sadly he died:(, i learned much in his books of how you should live your live and how to react to parts of it. but i'm glad that his wife is finishing fall of kings.

Hi and Welcome aboard, you'll find all kinds of friends here just be careful around the orange dragon. This will probably be placed in the 'Introductions, thread shortly, where more people will see it.:)

Welcome Lion, good to see another Gemmell fan onboard, I got hooked on him the same way a long time ago when I picked up Ghost King and have been a fan ever since, I once went to a book signing of his years ago but the line was so long it went out the shop down the road and around the corner there must have been 200+ people in the queue and he was only ment to be there for another 45 minutes so I never joined it but I did go and look on the face of genius I just wish I could have shook his hand. anyway enough rambling I hope you enjoy your time here

Welcome Lion

I am also huge DG fan as you can see.

I actually just finished Legend heh i felt so much for the characters and the story that i felt like it was too much emotions at once when it ended.

I also found out he was dead only days after i read my first book of him Sword in the storm. I also wish i knew he was out there when he was alive. The only i author i would have traveled around the world to see.

ya his books just take you into whole other worlds that are so real that you cry when characters die and know despair when the characters do and know their joy as they feel it and feel proud of them as they grow stronger and acomplish things. David will be missed much but i hope that people will enjoy the work he did when he was alive more than mourn for the lose of him.

Thats the good thing with him having written 30 books. There are so much of him to read that it feels like he isnt totaly gone.

For example Legend was so philosphical about many things that it felt like listening to DG talk to you live.

my first book was legend of deathwalker, I love all of his I am so glad we had a chance to read them and enjoy them, I am sure he would be happy to know how much his work touched people, I wish I had the chance to meet him but somethings are never to be, I could only think what better way to celebrate his life is by enjoying his work

Youve still got a few left to enjoy LoM. Getting that first read of a new Gemmell is a magical experience and I remember for years after each time I pick up one of my books the thrill of being on the bookshops doorsteps on release day to get my copy. (I started with Legend back in 86.)

Glad you are enjoying the Gemmell books. I have enjoyed every single one. The Druss ones best.
One observation I would make is in all the books published post "Legend" featuring Druss we know that whenever he is involved in a fight or goes into battle, he is not in any mortal danger because will live on so that he can fight (and die) on the walls of Dros Delnoch.
