Ive just been introduced to the world of Simon Clark. (For fans of his already I apologise for my ignorance on his work)
I have read a couple of reviews on Vampyrrhic and it sounds like the type of book I would enjoy. The only problem is locating a copy. It is no longer in print in Australia (so I have been informed) and I am able to get a copy overseas either in Uk or US but just thought I would ask others who have read it what they thought.
Ulimatly I will still get a copy but just curious.
With thanks:)

Read the book some time ago and I liked it. It blends old myths and gives you a new kind of vampire as well. Puts a new spin on the legendary armies waiting through the centuries to fulfill their destiny and here are vampires you absolutely have to hate. In fact hating them is almost a pleasure.

Sounds interesting. Would this happen to be alternatively titled Vamphyrric Rites? Or is that another in the series or some such? I only asked as I checked my library's catalogue and that's the only one they've got...

EDIT: Ah, no, different book, turns out... Oh well.

Vamphyrric Rites is the 2nd book. I've read that too but I much preferred the first one. The first book has well fleshed out characters and tight plot lines. No one was wasted. The second sort of rambled and the vampires themselves felt watered down somewhat.

You might want to pick it up from a library rather than buying it new.

Thanks, Nesa. Had discovered that fact myself in the meantime. I'll keep my eye out for the first book, though. In my research I discovered Clark does some prose writing for U2, so he's increased in my estimation...

Thanks Nesacat. Yes the I had heard there was a sequel to Vampyrrick, From what you have said, I shall search for a copy. Love a good vampire novel.

One place where you can find great offers and specials, for books that you can't find very easily elswhere, is the following

Fantastic Fiction

I buy 95% of my books there, the prices are great and so far (touch wood) I always found what I wanted.

Actually, this is not exactly true, I am still trying to find a copy at a reasonable price of Freda Warringtons 'A dance in Blood Velvet' which is book 2 of the Blood Wine Trilogy. But then again, if I am prepared to pay between (UK) £80 to £1,100 that is the place to get it.

By the way, the one you are looking for can set you back between (UK) £0.80 to £2. Good luck.

What a fantastic site, thanks Lirineth. There are so many copies, its deciding which one now, but hopefully i will be able to enjoy this novel soon. Not only that you have given me another new trilogy to read "Blood Wine Trilogy, don't know that I would want to pay those prices though.
Thanks Again...

Whilst you are visiting the fantastic fiction site take a moment to go to the ‘Brian Lumley’ section. There you will find a collection/series whatever you want to call it, called NECROSCOPE quite long and quite involved, but you’ll have vampires galore.

But if you are not ready to go through something so long, you can do as I did and cheat by reading only the last three books, which Lumley wrote separately and as a new series called ‘Vampire World’ form my side, I can only say that I enjoy the three books very much. These vampires are bad, many, mean and ugly, but they are extremely enjoyable and sooooo good, that kept me not wanting to put the book down. Bit a of a contradiction, don’t you think?

By the way Douglas Clegg has done a very good job with Vampiricon (can also be found in the site) at the momente i am wating for book three to come out and i can only say that i did enjoy the two previous ones very much.
