I put to you this minuscule idea

How about we start making a list of all the people within this site that:

want to go
have already booked
are thinking of booking
will definitely book (i thinks that would be me)

to the Fantasycon to take place at the Britannia Hotel, 1 St James Street, Nottingham between the daays 21st - 23rd September 2007

Fantasycon - Presented by The British Fantasy Society

wouldn't it be nice to go have some little thing in your lapel or something, please give ideas, so that when you look around you can sorprise yourself by recongnising each other? Of course without the slightes no obligation to even say 'hello',

The hotel form is a bit of a dog's breakfast by the way, but i suppose that with patiene and careful reading it can be navegated without too much drama.

Ok I love to read your comments

I do so wish I could go, but a lot depends on where I am at that time. If I do make the the move to Europe, then there is a chance I'll be there, but if I end up not moving, I'm afraid Georgia is just too far away.

As for the lapel idea - how fun - a red flower perhaps?

If I knew for definate there was a Chron member there I would say hello at least,as they say a wink is as good to a blind horse as a nod but what good is a blind horse to a jockey.

I've never yet been to a con :( I don't think I'll be attending this one either ... not unless I win the lottery :p

I've never been to a con either and I also can't attend this one, for the same reasons as you.

It's just ironic, since I'm from Denmark, where the con is this year, but I live in Ireland.

I'd like to go to con sometimes, though part of me thinks that I'll feel completely out of place as they tend to have writers I've never even heard of. I'd still like to give it a try if I get the chance.

Thanks for setting it straight for me. In any case, we're already spending some money going to the UK for the Download music festival this year, so it's still not going to happen. I'll try to keep an eye out on Octocon, though, as that might be doable.

I'd love to go to this but I am in Cornwall that weekend and it's hardly close.

However, nearer the time there is http://www.hayfestival.com/wales/download/programme2007.pdf the festival at Hay on Wye which is like a giant book shop town. I might start a new thread for this actually as it is meant to be brilliant and I am definately going to try and get there. They have described it as a Woodstock for the mind. A brilliant description I thought. It's on from 24thmay to 3rd of June.

Some friends were asking if I was going to join them for Download at Donnington, but this year there are no day memberships and 3 days would eat into too much money at the mo!.would like to see Maiden again though and some newer bands that I quite like, before I get too old and be considered an embarrssment. ;) :D

We'd going for all 3 days even if day memberships were possible. Next year we'll probably have moved back to Scandinavia and then we probably won't get the chance for that festival again.

Being 32, I expect to be older than most people at the festival, but what the hell! I haven't been to any festivals since *thinks* 2000 or so.

I've already booked for Fantasycon... at least, I presume I have -- sent membership forms and cheque off several weeks ago, but yet to hear anything back.

Mind you, a friend sent his in before Christmas, and finally heard back mid-April, so I've probably got a few months to wait yet.

My son is 33 later this year but one does not give a monkey's you are what you are and I am not in the least all that bothered about it we are all going to get older some time  (well at least the lucky ones):D 3 days would be Ok but a few weeks before the Worldcon sort of rules it out.
