Hi, this is the first time I've posted here. I just finished J. Carroll's the Land of Laughs and really enjoyed it(can't believe I missed it-it's on several "best horror" lists), and I was wondering about his other books. Any recommendations?

Check out worthy fellow-reader knivesout's review of his The Wooden Sea here

He also reviewed Voice of our Shadow sometime in May 2006 but damned if I can find that now.

I've got both Voice Of Our Shadow and Land Of Laughs and they're both excellent reads! They form part of the Masterwork series. Never read Wooden Sea so thanks for the heads up ravenus.

I thought The Wooden Sea was an ok read. The story gets kind of jumbled towards the end, so I didn't like it as much as I thought I would.

I've read so few books of late that combine humor(or absurdity), and fear so well. Most of the time when the author tries to inject humor-for me at least it falls flat. I'll check out "The Wooden Sea." Thanks

I read this one about 10 years ago . A magnificent novel.(y)

I will add my +1 for recommending 'Voice of our Shadow' which I think, if you enjoyed 'Land of Laughs' you will also enjoy very much.

Seconded. I read Voice... several years ago and was about as intrigued by that story as by The Land of Laughs. No sophomore jinx here. And his third book, Bones of the Moon, is also quite good.
