William Gibson, greatest of the sci fi writers?

I feel that "punk" is a misnomer, or, at any rate, a mis-suffix. As Lin Robinson pointed out, the atmosphere, certainly in Gibson, is closer to the beat generation. Gibson himself was an active drop-out (Can a drop-out be active? Never mind.) in Canada, and also pays tribute to William Burroughs as an influence.
