Update on bugging: Bug me if I am below 500 words a day. (so that makes me safe for today)

With my typing speed, there's no way I'm going to reach a thousand words a day. Two hundred, I'm happy. Five hundred, very.
So, my dragon thing (provisionally "Mutually assured digestion" from it's recipe-book origins) is standing at 20,550 words (plus the recepies, but they're in another document, and I'm not certain I can integrate them in the present treatment)
It lacks a lot of connective tissue – for once, instead of starting with a skeleton and fleshing it out, I've started with the internal organs and muscles and added skin and bones as required- and I've got a couple of major battles that I keep putting off – but it's coming together.
S'pose I'm going to have to find someone to read it.

Okay, since my last projects are somewhat finished, I have started a new one :
Novel:'the tower'
Genre: high fantasy
word count: 2004 words
Status: active((nudge status: 1000 words a day), I'm safe till Monday morning GMT time)

I think it is best that we should set a deadline for ourself like:
"If I haven't updated my word count at that moment (in my case monday morning), then start bugging me." That way we don't have to calculate before we can start bugging.:p

An update:

Novel: Untitled
Genre: Fantasy (Epic/Dynastical)
Word Count: 15 770
Status: (Surprisingly) Active

Another update:

Novel: Untitled
Genre: Fantasy (Epic/Dynastical)
Word Count: 11 270
Status: Active

Doesn't look like progress, I know, but I cut and rewrote a large chunk from the beginning that was holding me back. Some seven hundred and fifty words this morn, and I'm done with that bit, so onwards and upwards from here, with any luck.

still at thousand words a day (so i'm safe till this evening).

What are we supposed to do; give a continuous update if we're happy with progress and sort of pretend we've forgotten when we drop behind (or hope that one's success inspires the others with competitive jealousy?
I'm pretty happy with 22,489.

Unfinished:
Novel (untitled (I'm useless at titles))
Genre: Um...Fantasy, I'm going to say.
Word Count: 56,824

Whoa, look out, huge update!

Word count: 56,892!
OK, I've only done a little editing. But I have a huge section that I wrote by hand that needs copying up onto the laptop. I'll try and do that soon...

Reads thread...ooooops....tiptoes out
Post: one
Genre: I wish

I quote from the first post:
You can set limits for yourself that the people who read this thread may or may not send you private messages to incite you to write more when they see that you are writing less than planned.
So in general this thread is here to help you to keep up with your writing. It's easy to give up, when all your environment does is give you shores and things to look after that take you away from your writing. Therefore it would be nice if the online people did just the opposite.
So in short: put down your deadlines and if you don't succeed, we'll send you messages to keep going/speed up. (I expect at least some people to take the effort to send messages too). In order to give the nudges only to the most needy, it is best if you post when you are making progress. Does this make sense?

Scalem I'm intrigued...I know 1000 is a good target but some great writers I've looked into do 500 words a day. Others can churn out novels in very little time at all. Perhaps an extra criteria: personal target/hours/letting it rest qualifiers to let others know whether you need the nudge or not and to celebrate the successes ... its a great idea tho.

I think that's pretty much what Scalem was suggesting anyway...1000 seems to be his personal target, but he mentions in the first post that "You can set limits for yourself" and etc. As you can see, I'm certainly not rushing along with my story, so I added the note not to PM for a while until I get the time to sit down and write properly! :D

I sort of stalled and veered off focus, and thus:

Novel: Witchborn (working title)
Genre: Fantasy (steampunk/elfpunk)
Word Count: 1570
Status: Active/In Development

I haven't set any word targets beyond steady progress, which is more what I'm using this thread for - as a marker, if you will, of where I was then, and where I am now. But I'm not averse to the occasional note of encouragement!

Novel: The Myth of the Esteril
Genre: Fantasy (Epic)
Word count: 63, 062
Status: Active. Aiming for at least 80, 000 words in total, but hopefully more, and want it finished by the end of the year.

Word count: 56,892!

Another update...managed to copy up most of the handwritten section. I'm now on:

Word count: 59,599

This might be pushing myself a bit too much, but I'd really like to get this finished before the start of September. I have pretty much all the ideas for the remaining part of the story. The question is...can I do it? Huh, huh? Can I, can I?
Well, perhaps I'll give it a go...

As I've done a count I thought I might join in and see if it helps any.

Being more of a serial writer than an out and out novelist, I won't mention the completed bits, it would be boasting, suffice to say the figures are in telephone number territory.

Episode: Doubles Doubled
Genre: Science Fiction
Count: 7934
Status: On hold

Story: The Academy
Genre: Science Fiction
Count: 61753
Status: Parts 1-3, 5(provisional) and last episode complete, part 4 started

Update time again...I'm trying to write everyday at the moment. It's strange how slowly it goes though, I have the ideas but it's difficult to put them onto the paper for some reason...anyway:

Word count: 61,105

Thanks scalem. Did 5000 word clean up over the weekend on one and 3800 on the other. Sweated blood from the eyes over it though. Will send some of it off to the Critique Group mid week. Keep on my hammer brother, seems it works a charm. :D
