I like SF&F
It took my library two weeks, but they finally got in A Game of Thrones for me.

I'm on page 76 so far. I forgot how incredible this book was. It reads so easily and the characters jump from the page to my mind so quickly.

A big round of applause. I remember the ending of the book. I remember the shock of it. But I didn't remember just good it was from the get-go.

It was a long two weeks for me though. I was very excited to find out they can order the book from another library. It would have been there on the first week, but it went to the library in the town I live in instead of the town I work in. So I had to wait until my next off day and go to that library.

It easier , but more expensive when you just buy the book, then again, when you go to the 2nd-hand bookstores, its all really cheap

Marvolo: A little secret...it gets even better. Now, walk, NO RUN, to the bookstore and spend the $8-10 for a slice of GRRM. Forget the library.

My first reading of AGOT was excellent fun. The subsequent re-readings while viewing the posts here on facts and theories are completely different enjoyment. One of the main reasons I've loved this series is the interaction with fellow readers during the waits... and to talk intelligently about the series (I know some of you are thinking "Boaz characterizing his posts as intelligent is the height of sef-aggrandizing") I need my books for reference.

I'm going to Books-A-Million thursday, so I might buy the paperbacks of the first three.

I am also going to buy some of the books he recommended on his website, namely Life in a Medieval Castle and Life in a Medieval Town. I am an aspiring author myself and these books seem incredibly interesting. The book about medieval swordsmanship seems good as well.

Thursday the adventure will continue.

Edit: Yeah, my library is tiny, but they let me sit in a back room and write on my lunch break every day, so here is to small town libraries. :)

Well, I'm blushing Boaz, but let's leave our friend Aegon out of the "intelligently" part...;) By the way, where is he anyway? Lost in the desert again?

I finished A Clash of Kings. I liked it even better than the first. My library is being painfully slow delivering A Storm of Swords so I'll have time to finish Ilium by Dan Simmons and Marley and Me by John Grogan. It's been a month since I put the book on reserve... damn the library.

On a sidenote, Ilium by Dan Simmons is fantastic!

Well Marvolo, the third book is going to set your head on fire because the series takes a huge turn in this book. I still don't know if it is for the better because nothing good has happened to my favorite characters. So don't be afraid if depression sets in by the end of the book.

Well, I couldn't contain myself from reading the sample chapter from A Dance With Dragons. So I guess Dany takes at least a portion of westeros. That is comforting honestly. At least the Lannisters don't hold it anymore. I might end up just buying the paperback to avoid the wait.

I'd definitely buy the books - they're an investment!
I only got into the series last Christmas, and having the books so you can re-read them (which I'm now doing again) is a must! Great as the first read is, you get a totally different experience reading them again, and then you can read everyone else's thoughts and comments on the series online, although I have to admit to being absolutely rubbish at coming up with decent theories myself!

And if you're hooked enough to read ahead with the sample chapters from ADWD, I implore you to get the books so you don't end up reading spoilers before you get the chance to enjoy the series all the way through!

I originally borrowed the books, after the first reading i bought them, and i have to agree the first reading is just awesome and when you read em again, you see how things lead up to your favorite moments "Chop Chop" so these books are the best investment always hours of fun :)

Don't wanna burst your bubble, but thats not westeros shes in in the sample chapter. I don't wanna say more because I don't like spoiling it. Also, just go buy them all, otherwise you'll just have to wait a few weeks again for you library to get them when you get the urge to reread them, which is inevitable.

I swap my paperbacks at a really neat site--although my George RR Martin books I have in hardcover and intend on keeping them--1 is signed by him :)
