Juda's Unchained

Fool's Errand

Did I make any mistakes? :)

Well

Juda's Unchained
Fall of Hyperion

are both sequels so I hope you have the first ones.

Apart from that they are all decent novels.

Yes, I have read all previous books in the series here, and liked them, but sometimes the sequels are not as good, which is why I ask.

I am probably the only sci-fi fan on earth who has not read any King (at least I don't remember doing so) I think it's because I'm too familiar with the movies and don't want to know the plot ahead of time when I read. But I'm hoping that I like Gunslinger enough to continue the DT series because my favorite thing is extra-long series/sequels. (as evidence, I am probably also the only one on earth who doesn't think the Jordan books have gone on too long ;))

Oh, oh, if I may add something, then...(I say this to everyone who starts the Dark Tower series!) If you find The Gunslinger a little slow paced, or generally not to your liking, I command (heh) you to push on to the next book, The Drawing of the Three. I don't really like The Gunslinger, personally, but after that the series is fantastic (especially the third book!) Mind you, you might (hopefully!) really enjoy it!

As for the other Stephen King books...well, you really can't go wrong with any King books in my opinion! And also, if you read more of his other novels, like The Stand, 'Salem's Lot, etc, there are a few things in The Dark Tower series that you'll understand to a greater extent. The Dark Tower is like the axis around which all of King's books rotate, which references to quite a few. They're not so large that you wouldn't understand the series without reading the other books, but it certainly allows you to pick up on the little nuances.

And also just read other King novels because the guy writes some real ripping yarns. I guess his style isn't to everyone's liking, but there's no denying that he can tell a good story!

Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is an excellent book as well! A fantastic comedy sci-fi. Douglas Adams was such a legend :D

I'm a huge Stephen King fan and the Dark Tower books are great with one exception. I hated "Songs of Susannah".

Wizard and Glass was my favourite.

Remember as well if you like "The Talisman" the sequel "Black House" which I thought was a better book.

Have you read Robin Hobb's Farseers trilogy? If not, you should read those first then read Fool's trilogy.

I'm hoping I love King because that would be about 5 years worth of reading material right there :) (and I've forgotten most of the movies by now)

Now that one I saw the movie but I still want the book because I'm in the mood for something funny and off-beat in the genre.

Oh, funny and off-beat it is indeed! I love that book (and subsequent sequels!) Although the film goes off on a tangent that isn't found in the books and, although the film is pretty good, the book is much, much better in my opinion. Plus you have what no film can include: Adam's fantastic style and the incredibly funny on-liners he can suddenly spring on you halfway through a description!
