Has anyone read or heard of the Black Swan by Nicholas Taleb?
A friend has lent me it and it seems interesting.
It looks at why we do not accept that the improbable can and does happen and when it does why we seek ot look for patterns and reason in prediction..interesting stuff and certainly givs you smethingot think about.
His style of writing is very witty and enteratining so it makes heavy reading light and enjoyable. fooled by randomeness was his first book and there is some info in this telegraph article: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/opinion/main.jhtml?xml=/opinion/2007/04/22/do2201.xml
