Jamie McGraw Releases First Young Adult Fantasy Novel – ‘Of Shadowcats, Unicorns and a Girl Named Dew’ Available On Lulu.com
MACKAY, QLD AUSTRALIA—JULY 2, 2007— Jamie McGraw has released his debut young adult fantasy novel, Of Shadowcats, Unicorns and a Girl Named Dew available now on Lulu.com. The Australian author of fantasy and horror explores new territory with the release of the novel, which combines the magic of The Secret Garden and The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe with the more sinister overtones of the works of Stephen King.
Dew Mistwood loves animals and starts working at an animal shelter shortly after dropping out of school. This isn't any normal animal shelter, but a shelter for magical animals: shadowcats, hide hounds, grice, fire salamanders and many other fantastical creatures. Bullied and ostracized by her peers, Dew finds sanctuary in the shelter and discovers powers she always suspected but never knew she had. When her father goes missing, Dew must decide whether to use her powers for her own gain or for the good of the animals.
Jamie McGraw began writing Of Shadowcats, Unicorns and a Girl Named Dew after his girlfriend worked at an animal shelter in the outer west of Sydney, Australia. “Every day she would return home dirty and exhausted, but happy.” Jamie’s love for writing fantasy and his girlfriend’s job created the seed of an idea: why not write a story about a shelter for magical animals?
Of Shadowcats, Unicorns and a Girl Named Dewis available on Lulu.com either as an e-book or as a print-on-demand novel. Jamie is currently working on his next novel, an adult horror called ‘Succubus’, which should be available some time in 2008.
