Three Wishes

Let's say you were walking along and found a magic lamp on the ground. You decided to see if there was a genie in there and guess what? There was!

Now you have been given three wishes...

But there's a catch.

This genie is tired of people asking for money, so when he appears he automatically gives you all the money that you could ever use or give away. So money isn't an object and he refuses to give you anymore more money despite using it as a wish, so don't waste your wishes on that.

Secondly, this genie loves books and you can only wish for something that can be found in a book.

Other then that you can wish for anything...

What would your three book related wishes be?

My three wishes would be this...

1) I would wish to be a goddess, like Athena in Greek Mythology.

2) There would be no more cars used for transportation unless it was like the car in Harry Potter that could fly. I would wish that we used brooms to fly on and on those rainy days, magic flying cars.

3) For my last wish I would wish that space travel was real as protrayed in Star Trek.

1 .... Be the librarian at the Cemetary of Forgotten Books from Shadow of the Wind (Carlos Ruiz Zafon).

2 .... I'd like to visit the worlds of HP Lovecraft

3..... Wander around Dream's library from the Sandman graphic novels. It has all the book that were dreamed of but never written.

Hmm, now, let's see...like Nesa, these will probably change when I suddenly think of more!

- Although I'm not a huge fan of the books, I wish I'd received a letter when I was eleven asking me to attend Hogwarts!

- And after I've finished at Hogwarts, I wish for a job to collect information for the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy and travel through the universe!

3. To visit Avalon as protrayed in the Mists of Avalon

Three wishes? Hmm...

1/ To visit Anne McCaffrey's Pern and see the dragons in action.

2/ To meet the King of all night's dreaming from Neil Gaiman/Yoshitaka Amano's The Dream Hunters. Seems like such an intriguing character.

3/ To be able to transform into some kind of animal and back again (at will), like Belgarath and the wolves in the Belgariad etc.

1/ A real library like the one in QR, where merely opening any book allows you to understand it, no matter the language.

2/ A comfortable reading couch dead centre with a special holder for.......

3/ An everlasting can of eternally fizzy, ice cold irn-bru.

Now that sounds like a recipe for a good nap...

When given the possibility of 3 wishes I always ask the same
Health
Wealth
Happiness

But in this specific case, the genie has already taken care of ‘the wealth’ side of the situation, which leaves me with health and happiness.

Now bearing in mind that if you are healthy and wealthy, its almost your duty to be happy, this means that I only need to ask for health, leaving me with two other wishes to decide for.

So I would ask for my second wish to be able to live for as long as I wish no matter what, after all you may be healthy, but accidents do happen, and it would be a real waste, to have all that money and health going down the drain just because the train or the plane crashed.

And for my third wish I would ask to be able to have many different kinds of magical friends with whom to share all this, because lest face it, being almost immortal, rich and healthy (this is sounding like becoming a vampire) if you don’t have somebody to be with and do ‘stuff’ with, it can become a bit of a drag to be all by yourself.

And for my first adventure I would ask my friend, the one that can manipulate time, to take to the Alexandrian Library, I think that for starters that would do. What do you think?

I would wish for

1. To be able to go inside any story from anybook whenever I wanted.

2. Speak any language from any novel.

3. Play any instrument ever mentioned in any book.

Choose any decent library; the Library of congress will do fine.
I would like all the information in my head, with the same access as for my more traditionally aquired memories (this presupposes a brain capable of handling this much information)
Having aquired all presently available information, I wish to be given a choice on all new material, to instantly merge it with the rest or recieve it in book form, to be read at leisure.
Finally, feeling philanthropic, I'd like everybody on earth to have instant access to all information, without secrecy or censorship, though only that they searh, not universally available like me.

Your wishes are very similar to mine, Chris. I guess chipping in different type of memory cards accordingly in everyone's brain and update them regularly may partially fulfill the wishes.

I remember not long ago I read in the news some guy did chip something in his head to strength his memory and he was promoting the thing.

Damm it if I cant be librarian or even assistant librarian in the Cemetery of Forgotten Books (this is what you get for posting late) then I have to be janitor if thats ok with Nesa and Gollum.
I missed out on Librarian in the Historian so I think that a nice boat trip on the Fevre Dream would be just the thing to cheer me up, but before Julian comes aboard and finally I loved the character of Aliena in Ken Follett's Pillars of the Earth, so despite all the bad things that happen to her, I love her strength, so I would like to be Aliena.
