Does anyone have any suggestions of what books would be good to read while waiting for the Dance. I have reread the ASoIaF several times and I need something similiar to tide me over. I read Bernard Corwell's King Arthur series and Jack Whyte's Eagle series and loved them. I am into anything that envolves a good story combined with badass warriors. Characters like Jon Snow, Sandor Clegane, Jaime Lannister, and Bronn. Or Derfel Cadarn from the Winter King or Varrus of the Skystone. Medieval stuff. Any suggestions?

Paul Kearney is probably a good fit, particularly with his Monarchies of God series (quite hard to find but they'll be reprinted in one volume next year). Otherwise your best best is Steven Erikson's Malazan Book of the Fallen series, which starts with Gardens of the Moon.

Like Werthead said if you want some bad ass warriors The Malazan Book of The Fallen would be hard to beat.

They're a bit tricky to get into, but very worth it.

I started Gardens of the Moon and somewhat tricky but once you get past the first part of the book, it flows nicely. And yes, it is quite bad ass.

Thanks. I will check them out. Always good to know about rough beginnings. Sometimes you don't know if it is worth pushing through. Keep the book ideas coming.

See, what I think is truly badass is some hot courtesan/spy action like in Jacqueline Carey's Kushiel's Legacy series. If you are put off by S&M then you might want to stay away.
