So watched Heroes last night...

WOW - looks like the best TV we've had in ages!

Really well filmed, fast pace on the storyline, and some really nice characters to boot - the Japanese guy who thinks he can teleport is great!

What's amazing after watching it is how it was relegated to a BBC2 showing on a Wednesday night - this series already looks far too good for that.

Also - how many episodes in the series? I'm worried about missing one, so tempted to just rush out and buy it on DVD.

Another question - how many people here think we should have a dedicated Heroes board on chronicles? :)

I've watched 20 episodes of Season 1 over here and it was very good all the way to the end. Then watched it all again when I got the boxed DVD set from the pirates.

You are right ... it's some of the best TV in a long time.

Now we are waiting for Season 2. And surprisingly there's very little information to be found about this anywhere.

I'd love for it to have it's own board please.

It was certainly a promising start but I'm reserving judgment. I liked Lost at first but that ultimately turned out to be an over-padded triumph of style over substance, IMHO. Hopefully this won't go the same way.

There's 23 episodes in total, I've watched them all on the 'tubes (but shh! don't tell NBC that!). It's a really great show, and the story gains a lot of momentum but does it slowly. The flashes between different people can get a bit confusing at times, but it's fairly easy to work out. Hiro Nakamura (Japanese space/time continuum extraordinaire) is my favourite character, along with Peter and Micah.

I totally want a Heroes board! After I finished watching all of them I was gonna post somewhere but couldn't find the right place to do it.

Unfortunately I just don't have the time to watch this. I need to get up really early in the morning which means an early night most days:(

Looks like I'll have to get it on DVD.

really enjoyed it. its well thought out and has some great potential for the future if they don't go and ruin it.

I saw the first two episodes last night too. I did enjoy it, but i think i was looking for more of a WOW factor because its had so much hype. One of those series that probably gets better as it goes along

Maybe see about renting it from Blockbuster or somewhere first - BBC2 aired two episodes last night - 1 hour long first episode I think it was, plus a 30 min second episode. I think the first episode was tempting in itself, but the second episode really seals the deal. :)

I don't want to hype it up, but it's intelligently done, and aimed at mature audiences - or appears so, so far. It promises a lot more, so I'm hoping it delivers. :)

Yeah, I saw a lot of bloggers in the US previously WOWing at Heroes, so I simply slipped the name into my hat of things to watch out for. It took my sister-in-law (or equivalent) to point out it was on tonight, so I finished work early just to see if there was anything worth watching. Glad I did. :)

Oh - and will now create a heroes board - anyone sees any Heroes threads, post a link here and I'll move it. :)

I managed to catch wind of this problem earlier in the year and there's actually a thread on this already on here but it was done by the yanks who have obviously seen the entire series so it's riddled with spoilers so I don't recommend anyone read it just yet.

I thought it was some of the best television (story wise) since Babylon 5 for me. It's got that same thread running all the way through it so that little things you see in the first episode become important much later on.
As far as the Lost comparison goes, I watched that programme too and struggled with it and eventually gave up halfway through series 2 without any regrets. Heroes however, is much more focussed and tightly scripted all the way to the end. It can be a bit twee in parts at times but it's still excellent compulsive viewing with lots of twists (and good ones, not ones just put there for effect). Hiro is easily my favourite character but funnily enough, he's the only one who really embraces his abilities and wants to be a hero. For the others, it's a tool to be used or a curse to be feared and hidden from other , lest they be branded a freak.

The second series can't come fast enough!!

Am I going crazy or did this board only appear recently despite apparently having some old posts?? Anyway, glad to see it: Heroes is currently one of my (& my wife's, brother's, sister's, even my mum's) favourite TV shows. Just finished watching season one on the Sci-Fi channel & agree that it is mature, gripping, well-written television. It can take itself a mite too seriously at times but at least it has the courage of its convictions with its dramatic, apocalyptic storyline.

And yes, the Lost comparison isn't strictly accurate; there is an arc plot in Heroes which runs throughout the season, but (shock, horror!) it is resolved by the end of the season - then other plot(s) instantly hinted at in the final moments of the last episode...

Yes Mistera am waiting for the next season too. And we have no idea when that will be. Season One just ended here as well and that there was a suggestion of things to come.

I was glad when things got resolved and it didn't just hang on and continue and then end up meandering aimlessly while it got more and more cumbersome and incomprehensible.

Was worried when I started that it would be like Lost and end up being Lost but it looks like Hollywood is being sensible ... at least thus far.

so,recommended then?
In the 'first series of X-files' vein?
better?
format breaking,or formulaic fodder?

Aww, Ben, it's absolutely fantastic! I've seen all of season one thanks to someone sending me the American episodes on a DVD. The series just keeps getting better and better. I was a HUGE fan of the earlier X-Files seasons, but this show beats them hands down.

It's not "format breaking", but it certainly isn't like any of these other TV shows that are churned out lately. Definitely recommended.

:D:D:D

I love Hiro! He's just so funny and -- and, Oh! I wish I could say more, but it would spoil so much for anyone who hasn't seen it! And, yes, Peter's character is intriguing.

I've been meaning to watch this for a while, after hearing nothing but good things about it. Does anyone know if last night's episodes are repeated?

The BBC just launched their iPlayer, which apparently allows programs to be downloaded and watched, so it might be there - but I can't find a link to it on the BBC site!

Great series and if anyone is interested the first 2 episodes will be repeated on Sunday (29th July) evening on BBC2.

I believe the 2nd series is due to start stateside in September 2007, with the usual 6 week hiatus over the holiday period. During this break they plan to show six individual episodes focusing on all new "Heroes", supposedly viewers will be able to vote on their favourite and they will be added to the series proper :D

I found the link - type iplayer into the search box - but it won't do me any good. I ditched M$ Internet Explorer and Windows Media Player ages ago and iplayer apparently requires IE6 or later and wmp10. How much did Bill Gates stuff into whose pockets after the BBC originally said they wouldn't use any proprietary software?

Yep, the second season starts Stateside in September but it won't be on UK screens for quite a while yet as rather than the Sci-Fi channel having the rights to the second season, I've heard BBC2 have bought them which means that we have to wait at least until Season 1 stops showing on BBC2 before we see Season 2... unless you happen to know some hooky IT guys!!!! :D

For the record, I absolutley loved this show, such a brilliant programme, best TV we've had for a very long time and I'm a bit ashamed to say this but it even beats my beloved Doctor Who... it's just awesome!

xx
