'Feast of Souls' has been put upon the ‘just released’ shelves in the book shops, written by Celia Friedman.
According to the review in Saturday’s Western Australia’s news paper, Feast of Souls is the first of a trilogy about women wizards and where the source of wizardry is vampiric.
It’s not a large book, being only just over 400 pages but I feel it might be a good read despite the vampires!:)

Has anyone read her previous publication and what was your thoughts on her writing?

I have it and have read and enjoyed it thoroughly. It threw me for a moment when you said Celia Friedman. I've always seen her listed on her books as C. S. Friedman. Never realized (and didn't much care) that her first name was Celia.

The vampire in the book is not a blood sucking vamp. She takes the life force of another person to fuel her magic. You can get that much from reading the blurb on the front dust cover (at least you can here in the US). Hope this helps.

I have read all of her books and enjoyed most of them.

The only book I've read by her is Black Sun Rising. I thought it was a good read, though I did think the ending was kind of corny.
