Just found this.

Ion TV network in US has purchased the rights to show the British TV
version of
Terry Pratchett's Hogfather. Heard it will be on sometime this season on a
Saturday movie show.

That was the Mid-West Bible belt crowd who opposed the hollywood film being made, but the don't have any control over the Sky production. :)

Pity it is a bit crap. Maybe they won't notice and will give them the money to try one of the other books?

They did not give them the money the 1st time and I think they did well with what they had raised, and there is another book being filmed and sky are funding it.

one being filmed and another planned for after that :D

personally, I'd like to see the films done more like the stage plays with a narrator, that way we'd get more of the humour.
I saw Guards Guards performed by a local Am-Dram company and considering that their budget was only a couple of hundred at most and they had a very limited number of people to choose from when casting, the overall effect was much closer to the book than the sky1 version of Hogfather, even though sky had a huge budget and some top notch actors in the cast

I'll have to look for it on DVD...maybe it will be released in the US after it's on TV.

I wish someone here in the US could unbuckle the bible belt. I'd love to see Gore Verbinsky or Peter Jackson take a crack at Thud or The Wee Free Men.

Just for the record, I'm in South Carolina, which IS the freaking buckle of the bible belt, and I think Death is second most interesting character after Vimes. A lot funnier than Jack Skellinton, too.
