SO who believes that Cersei and Margaery's champions are going to battle each other. if Marg can't get Loras to fight for her them maybe Garlan or half the Tyrells army for the matter. But Cersei has this creation from Qyburn, Gregorstain from what I read on the boards. Or Who is going to free them from the chruches clutches? Will the Tyrells stand for their own daughter to be held hostage? Cersei is going to die, I know she is, but when and by who?

It will be quite something if she can find her way out of this current predicament. They should have her and large Marge catfight for the crown. Or not. Cersei would be certain to win that one. I can't wait to read it, whatever the answer is.

I don't believe Cersei is going to make it out, unless she convinces the high septon that she has repented her sins. The ones like, the affair with Jamie and the plot to take Margaery off the throne. Her admission about the affair with Jamie would ruin any creditability that Tommen is actually Robert's son, which would mean that Stannis is the rightful heir to the throne. As he makes his way South, Dany finally lands in Westeros. This will probably be the sixth book in the series.

But I still believe the champions are going to fight for the honor of Cersei and Margaery, but that will happen at the end of the fifth book, with Cersei champion losing. Unless it is Gregorstain, he probably easily defeats Margaery champion in one swing and slaughter half the crowd along with him.

I dont think Cersei will confess her sins, remember she knows what happend once Eddard confessed his "Sins", so i dont think the confession is her way out.

I think it will be something with the many people she has hidden in the deep dark basement :p

I afraid you might be right, Lubbock. But I like to see her confess her sins to the holy septon to destory her family name. I just like to see Lord Tywin turning over in his grave for the follies she has commited since his death.

I like to also see what Qyburn has been cooking up in the basement.

I think you guys are forgetting the two Cersei-esque prophecies...

1) Her downfall will be caused by the young queen.

2) She will die at the hand(s) of her younger/little brother

This is the beauty of this series....theres at least two young queens (and a third in Jeyne Westerling) in a position to cause her downfall. So it could be Dany's army coming across the sea or it could be Margy in the present time.....so we could very will be witnessing a prophecy being fulfilled right at the end of A Feast for Crows and not know it until after its done.

And theres two brothers in positions to cause her downfall. Jaime is nearby and his loyalty to Cersei is severely strained, and Tyrion is moving to place himself near Dany and his loyalty to Cersei is nonexistant....so we could very well witness that prophecy being fulfilled in the future and not know it either til its over with....

Movies and tv for me are so formulaic with only the barest intersection with the main characters I can predict how its going to end. Very few movies and books have suprised me in the last 10 years or so (and I enjoy those immensely) and the fact that this series can present all the usual plot landmarks and then continue to deviate from the norm in such a way to make my jaw drop just continues to peak my interest.....Damn, I love this series.

With Jaime's re-emerging conscience, I don't see him killing Cersei out of vengeance or convenience. He won't kill her for vengeance for two reasons. He'll hold out hope for Cersei to change... like he is doing. He's believed that they were one person in two bodies. Second, he's striving to put the realm before his own interests. He may well kill Cersei, but it would be because she's betrayed the realm, not because she's betrayed him personally.

Also, I don't see Jaime killing his sister merely because it's convenient for him at a certain time. This is what he did by lying to Tyrion about Tysha, what he did by tossing Bran from that tower, what he did by slicing through Robb's bodyguards, and what he did by giving Catelyn his oath. It would be convenient for the Martells, the Tyrells, and the Sparrows to kill Cersei... and they might all have a go at it. You know, I think that Jaime now needs a better reason than convenience.

On the other hand, I think vengeance and convenience are the two most likely reasons that Tyrion has for killing Cersei. If he gets any chance... ANY... he'll take it. And he'll gloat the entire time. Of course, if Tyrion is allied with Dany, then Cersei's death would be also for political expediency... but make no mistake, Tyrion will greatly enjoy it.

Had forgotten about those damn prophecies, ruining all my best laid theories.

But yes the prophecies point towards Dany and Tyrion as being prime candidates, but to see that happen we still need her to get out of her problems with the Sparrows, so she must have some trick up her sleeve.

As for Jaime and his slowly emerging conscience, i dont think he would kill his sister, only if she threatend the kingdom, like the mad king did. So Jaime as the killer i just dont believe it, yes he will ignore her and leave her to own problems.

Boaz, you may be right about Jaime putting the realm before his own interests. He is taking his role as a Kingsguard very seriously and has lamented somewhat that his colleagues are not the brave and valliant knights of old but a bunch louts. He also likely sees himself as the only person that can truly protect Tommen. Jaime knows Cersei has done enough to damage Tommen's reign and I don't think he would hesitate to kill her. There is no hope or chance that she will change and Jaime knows this.

"Queen you shall be . . . until there comes another, younger and more beautiful, to cast you down and take all that you hold dear."

... "Will the king and I have children?" she asked.
"Oh, aye. Six-and-ten for him, and three for you."

The old woman was not done with her, however. "Gold shall be their crowns and gold their shrouds," she said. "And when your tears have drowned you, the valonqar shall wrap his hands about your pale white throat and choke the life from you."

Above are all the Valonqar/Cersei prophecies that Cersei relates in her POV...

Allow me a second to interpret for a sec....

In the first one Maggy tells Cersei she will be a Queen and then be cast down by a younger more attractive one. Its the use of the word "cast" that makes me think Cersei will beat the charges currently laid in front of her. Margy isnt doing the casting in the current scenario, the church is.....if it said the young queen would bring her low, or cause her downfall, then I would accept Margy's victory. It is not to be Im afraid. The young queen is likely to be Dany according to my current thinking.

The second prophecy I pulled out to quell the "Cersei is pregnant" theory. Its likely she could be pregnant and never come to term, so its not conclusive.

The third leads me to believe all her children will be crowned before they died.....Joffrey and Tommen obviously have their crowns....but Myrcella hasnt been crowned in any way yet.

And the line of the valonqar wrapping his hands around her throat I think that discounts Jaime indirectly being responsible for her death....Its very specific that the little brother will kill her and Jaime wouldnt do that directly at this point.

So, In conclusion....I think nothing, my mind is an empty canvas....fill it with your knowledge and far-fetched semi-possible ideas.

Glad to see someone else being the research monkey for a change.

"Gold shall be their crowns and gold their shrouds," she said. "And when your tears have drowned you, the valonqar shall wrap his hands about your pale white throat and choke the life from you."

Good find, Egg. I take this to mean that all of Cersei's children (at the very least Joff and Tomm) will die before she does.

I agree with Boaz, all Cersei's children are going to die before she kicks the bucket. For a second, I thought that Cersei's incest would be discovered and Tommen would end up at Casterly Rock as its new lord. But it was only for a second. Kevan is going to be its new lord.
Here is a note, Dorne present that the next in line of the crown should be Myrcella. What if she is crowned already by Dorne, so it would mean that all of Cersei's children have been crowned. So their death is almost certain than. But if and when it does, I am going to be happy because she reaped what she sowed.

nice pick up, I have to agree I suspect Myrcella to be crowned already from Dornes point of view. so Cersei would almost certainly have to get out her current troubles only to have her children die and then herself. like most I think it will be Dany and Tyrion, but GRRM has a way of making your assumptions look stupid.

I doubt that Jamie is the volanquor only based on the fact that it said "hands" (no pun intended). I also doubt that Margaery is the queen in the prophesy. The prophesy says "younger and more beautiful", whereas Margaery is said to be as beautiful. According to Cercei, Rhaegar is more beautiful than Jamie, so Dany is probably the one that is younger and more beautiful than Cercei. However, Sparks the Knave is right about GRRM. :D

I am also certain that Jamie and Tyrion are not going to be directly involved in Cersei death. Cersei has ticked off plenty of people, so there are too many to count right now.
But Margeary is another concern of mine. She is accused of adultery, and the high septon is not going to let her off so easily. Are they going to annul the marriage with Tommen or stone her to death? I hate to see her get hurt in all this, but she is playing the game of thrones, so there is no way she is going to be the same afterwards, especially with George writing the script.

I swear Im not picking on ya Man o'......but the line is pretty specific

The old woman was not done with her, however. "Gold shall be their crowns and gold their shrouds," she said. "And when your tears have drowned you, the valonqar shall wrap his hands about your pale white throat and choke the life from you."

As has been revealed the "valonqar" translates to younger brother....Im not so sure Tyrion or Jaime would actually do the act but the implication is they would have a direct hand in it. Unless yer actually discounting the prophecy and thats cool....is there an alternate interpretation youre proposing?

Now on another note, if we've all agreed that Jaime is finally taking the responsibility of his role as Lord Commander of the Kingsguard seriously, and is on the arc to redeem his "honor"....then is it possible that at the end of AFFC he is returning to Kings Landing and will in fact be defending Cersei the Queen Mother in the capacity of his office. It will chafe Im sure, he finally makes the cut between the two of em and then circumstances and duty drag him back.

Has anyone considered that perhaps Jaime will come clean about sex with Cersei? Since he's gone with zombie Brienne to speak to Stoneheart anything could happen, maybe hel be hanged too and then revived

Great thread resurrection :D

It is possible

But the wording of the prophecy suggests otherwise. Cersei will be cast down by another queen not by her brother admitting the truth.
