I read recently that there will be yet another re-issue of BladeRunner (SCI FI Wire | The News Service of the SCI FI Channel | SCIFI.COM), and that it will be even closer to Scott's vision for the film. I thought the "director's cut", which wasn't cut by Scott, was pretty good, but I'm looking forward to this one.

An interesting note was that in the Melbourne Age Scott was quoted as saying he wanted to make another sci-fi movie and was waiting for the right script. I notice that there is another thread on a Dune remake, maybe Scott is eyeing this one. Given Scott is good at directing epic violence with moody protagonists, does anyone have any suggestions? I wouldn't mind to see an Iain M Banks' Culture novel on the screen, Consider Phlebas for example.

Nooooo more Dune. There's been enough bellyaching over movie versions of that book. Let it just remain on the page from now on.

I think Ridley Scott is one of the finest directors alive, but I do think he's just cashing in on the old Bladerunner franchise with yet another cut of it.

What franchise? There have been three novel sequels by KW Jeter. And you can find them going cheap in any remainder or charity shop. Which is a shame, because they're actually pretty good.

The money making franchise Ridley Scott has made from re-releasing Bladerunner every few years in a different cut or box or with another useless extra.

I thought there were only about 2 versions of Bladerunner available - the theatrical release and the director's cut. There are at least 6 editions of Dune on DVD - theatrical release, television version (UK), extended edition (US), special edition (UK), limited edition with metal tin (Germany), and limited edition with sandworm (Germany).

There's the original release, the director's cut, a remastered director's cut, a special edition director's cut, and the 25th Anniversary final cut edition. They're just the ones off the top of my head.

And yes, all the editions of Dune are crazy too.

Blade Runner: Final Cut - Limited Theatrical Showing

Over here in the US, there is a limted theatrical showing for BR: Final Cut in various art house theaters. Though I plan buying the DVD's, does anyone know what's been included to the Final Cut.
