So how about that Rickon, couldnt find any threads on him, so decided we better warm the kettle up for a little Rickon pow-wow.

Here are my thoughts on Rickon.

He is the youngest Stark and the one who have felt the loss of the pack most profoundly, first his father left along with his sisters and Jon. Then Bran got hurt and Catelyn left. So all Rickon had left is Robb and later on Bran.

And lets face it from Rickons point of view, when people leave Winterfell people die or vanish. Rickon only had two of his family left in Winterfell. Robb who turned into Robb the Lord, who didnt have time for his younger brother and Bran the Broken, who had his own issues to deal with. So who did Rickon have to talk to about whats happening no-one but his Shaggy-Dog.
So where is Rickon headed, he has developed quite the temper and he and his wolf has proved to lash out of people and howling at the moon looking fior their mother and their littermates, finding neither. We do know what Rickon is also blessed with Wolf Dreams, he meet Bran in the crypts after the chop chop incident. And ins ome way he is turning into a wolf, so maybe he shared some of Bran abilities.

So will Rickon in due time perhaps take over as Lord of Winterfell, once Bran becomes a Tree-hugger beyond the wall <couldnt help myself :)> or where does his future lie, let me hear some theories.

Rickon is actually one of my very favourite Characters in ASoIaF.

my thoughts are Rickon will turn more ferocious/wild and will perhaps draw wolves to himself and go on to kill someone 'important' before the end (bolton's ******* perhaps, who knows. he may even harm a loved one), but I also think GRRM has something special planned for him if it's not along those lines, he's trying to place him at the back of everyones minds so to speak.

I'd be interested to see what others think

Rickon will surely play some role in the future and in fact, he may be instrumental in exposing the fake Arya. He may also cross paths with Davos who ends up in White Harbour in ADWD.

I would actually like for Rickon to cross paths with Theon.

But, he's a 3-year boy with a Wildling woman who's supposed to be dead. Not sure how big of an impact he could really have.

This is why I thought GRRM wanted a five year gap between ASOS and AFFC. I figured he wanted the Stark kids to grow up some. Kids can save the world in Disney movies, but I like my fantasy a tad more realistic than that.

Was just reading CoK, and there was a scene when Rickon was playing KIng of the Crossing <which sounds like a fun game> with the Walders, and he get hit and the wolf attacks the Walders, and after this Rickon decided he liked the Walders and ran around with them. In some way i think he made himself the Alpha Male in some way and the Walders knew he was the strongest. So i think Rickon will be very wolflike in nature as he gets older, he will be a very nasty Stark :)

and also the most likely Lord Stark should winterfell ever be rebuilt.

Guess what? A small connection to that game is made in ASOS by Walder Fray (Big a*s). When he is speaking to Robb just before the feast starts he tells him something like this " You and your army used my Crossing and not once you have told "mayhaps". " That creeped me up when I was reading ASOS again. I think that Rickon will kill half of the Frays with his wolf.

Rickon's only 5 now so it is hard to imagine him having an active role in the story unless the story takes at least 5-7 more years to reach a conclusion. If that is the case count on him being more wildling than Stark. I honestly don't have any idea what part he is set to play.
