Your favorite Super-Powers

Well, all these questions about who exactly I would identify myself with, or which Superhero is my favorite made me really think.. I asked myself these questions very often, and I never really came to a conclusion, which would fit in general.. very mood-depending.. so i realized, that the main question should be:

What are your favorite super-powers?

Well, if you ask me, they as i've said change in time.. but one all-time favorite is the ability to fly, or more exactly mind-controlled, rapid floating. ('cause y'know, "flying" is what you do with wings, and it isn't really as controlled/directed as floating).

Telekinesis is also really cool, and I mean telekinesis, and not psychokinesis (tele-kinesis => distand-movement ; psycho-kinesis => mind-movement...moving objects, and not controlling and reading other peoples thoughts..)

These two abilities in daily life, wow that would rock my life... don' need more, if you ask me :D

But if I was forced to choose one more, I would prefer iceman's power.. or maybe good-ol' superstrength. hm.. and I thought about invulnerability (don't mix it up with immortality, which is horrifying if you ask me), but I think you just have to be vulnerable, or it wouldn't be cool fighting against others.. (except in daily life :p )

But imagine Magneto in the space programme! Self healing ships for all!

Given the apparently inexhaustible nature of their powers, wouldn't the Cyclops laser thingy be the best? I mean, imagine the fun you could have with the mining industry.

I always rather liked energy manipulation in its many forms. Telepathy would be a close second, but only if you could direct it without hearing everything all the time.

Hell yeah, I almost forgot Magneto's ultra cool ability. but cyclops power..hm.. always have to wear thoses glasses or a beamer-thing, that's so uncomfortable. and well, who wants to be in the mining industry ;P

energy manipulation.. that sounds cool. do you mean the ability to manipulate enegies like heat, cold, wind, earth, electricity, and so on ? cause if i'm right, that's the most powerful power of all, don't you think?

and telepathy... wow, that you be so cool too :D that would make one the ultimate lover and the best friend for everyone :D

Hmm, I hadn't really thought about elemental powers, but yes, they'd be pretty powerful. I meant on a more esoteric level, sort of like psychic energy or chi projection - standard comic book fare - but one of my favourites. I like the idea of characters being able to wield elemental power, though.

Telepathy always appealed to me because I'm a twin. Everyone used to think that we were telepathic.:)

wow, that's cool. I always thought about, if twins really have that kind of alikeness in their thoughts like in their appearence. because this alikeness could be described as telepathy...more or less :p

but this.. psychic energy or chi projection.. i didn't get that one.. could you descibe this "power" ?

It's something akin to psychic projection. Portrayed in comics as mental energy, I would think, or as just a 'force' of some kind. It's tough to describe, but I guess the closest equivalents would be telepaths in the X-Men comics (although it happens far more in Japanese manga and other medias - I read more of them than Marvel these days). Some kind of physical manifestation of mental energy, I would guess.

It's been a while since I read any Marvel comics, though. Sorry if my definitions aren't too clear.;):)

Well, Dusty, one can't walk in broad light when one is a vampire. That would be a serious limitation.

And Superman... who? Me?

I was thinking more of a goddessy Wonder Woman... :D

you really want to be immortal, giovanna?
hm.. think of it again:
all your friends die, your family too, everyone you know, everyone you heard of, and you can't do anything about it. at some point of your life, you either will go nuts and want to conquer earth, or you just want to die. you wish, you we're never born. you don't want to have any friends anymore, because you fear to come too close to them or to let them come to close to your heart or soul..all that because you know that you will miss them too much when they're gone, what they sure will..sooner or later.
that's just too depressing for me. i really wouldn't take this power.. but invulnerability, well.... that does not exclude, that you can die of a hearattack or senile decay or whatever... nothing from outside can injure you, but all things from inside can. so you will be able to die, just as you are able to get older. like superman.

The control of gravity

You get flying, TK, fire (friction), super strength (not that it's really necessary), shielding, and many more.

immortality wears off when you have kids,
invisibility wears off when you start looking good enough,
I haven't been able to do the laser eye stuff since I fell for that mirror eyed girl,
burnout I guess.
With super physicality you become everybody's slave,
'just pop over to equador for us, would you'
'just lift that satellite onto the top of my rocket, would you.'

then there was super anonymity and super family life
and super divorce.
Have you seen the film 'the specials' ? It has laserbrains getting jobs in welding.
Telepathy is a swizz, all the interesting minds are 'invite only'.
Wander 'round long enough with your ears on and you get a head full of ghosts and static.
Super hearing? Super headache.
All the fun powers need a licence, and good thing too,
don't let me be 'master of gravity', I wouldn't be any good at it.

Time travel... is a bad idea.

Mind control makes you feel cheap.
Poisonous spit rots your teeth.

Levitation is dangerous, I had a falling dream once, woke up in the sky.

Unity with the tao attracts demons.
Shapeshifting is a young man's game, I get awful cramp in the mornings now.

But I still use my automatic defensive teleport,
traditional, tried and tested.
Anything bad happens, I'm not there :)

I myself would have to go with Duplication and control over the Dupes created (Multiple man * Jamie Madrox. This to me would be one of the best powers out there. Creating dupes of yourself and letting the freely learn new jobs, go to school to learn new things, travel the world, and more.

then being able to re-absorb them and have all the knowledge. Not to mention you'd be able to win just about any fight.

Time traveling, of course! you know, making little changes to history...here and there :D.
