I'm just wondering if I am OK to use official submission formatting (italicized text becomes underlined) or if you feel it would be better to submit as it should appear in the book?

I've only had a quick look through the forum and haven't seen it used and don't want to reduce the number of critiques I receive by estranging readers

Thanks in advance for your thoughts :)

Well not quite elaborate as it's not adding to the text so much as exchanging formatting to the form proof readers and editors prefer... but I'm asking as it's my first time here and I don't know the community.

All of my manuscripts are already in subscription form for obvious reasons, but there's no point pasting an excerpt here 'as is' if it's going to turn people off :)

I don't think we really stress out that much, we're not all that formal 'round these parts.

:D

Whichever one is easier for you is find. I prefer italics over underlines, personally.

I'll just convert it, two out of two responses aren't in favour and I'd rather not rock the boat ;)
