Billie's Back?

Word is it's for this season's "Doctor Lite" episode and has several other companions also, and lokos at the life of companions post-doctor.

As long as the script is good, makes sense in the canon, and is well directed...

You don't suppose that there are timelords (or even a Doctor) in the parallel universe in which Rose has been trapped, do you?

Just because the Doctor hasn't expressly mentioned it doesn't mean the scriptwriters can't come up with it. And they might be doing a "where are they now", rather than (eg. Five Doctors) they all come together for a glass of rose and a self-help session. Though frankly either option doesn't set me on fire with expectation...

Given how closely Martha resembles her erstwhile cousin who worked at Torchwood, that's a possibility - though I hope they'd decide it had already been "used" as a methodology...

Dearie me

You hated Rose why?:(

I thought she was one of the best companions personally.

There are indeed many posibilities he wont appear in Rose's personal time line as that would surley create a paradox. The Grandmohter option is good, it is funny that in real life we do seem to look like (in some cases) our grandparents I'm given to understand that I'm very like my Garandfather when he was younger.

Rose was good, but the show isn't "Rose Tyler and an alien" it's Doctor Who. Or is meant to be anyway. If I see another dalek becoming emotional and nice I think I may have to murder Russell T Unoriginal.

That said, the last season finale was pure comedy gold, even though it was unintentional and lacked any sort of proper plot and made the Master into a cringing crybaby and stole the end from Flash Gordon.

Martha seemed nice enough (and lovely to look at too) but didn't have any real character beyond "Oh I love thee, Doctor, please forget about Rose and have your wicked way with me!"

They should get a new companion, preferably a dodgy bloke. Maybe a guy from the past who's a thief or rogue of some sort.

Actually, they announced that the show would be 'Doctor-light' next season, to allow David Tennant to do other things without him leaving and thus forcing a regeneration. I think the episode(s) that Rose appears in will be one of several with very small doses of the Doctor in order to achieve that. I expect we will also see more episodes like 'Love and Monsters' and 'Blink' in which the Doctor only appeared at the beginning and the end. I don't like the idea much either.

Totally agree on the dodgy bloke idea rather than love interest young female. They could bring back Peter Purves (he was pretty dodgy!) Only joking!

I don't like the idea of episodes with only brief appearences of the Doctor. Whilst Blink was a fanastic episode (Sally Sparrow for companion!!!), I don't think an episode like that would work. (That guy who runs the video shop with her would make a good occasional guest star too).

And a male companion would make a nice change from all the female love interests (Unless its Sally, she stood upto him rather nicely). The relationship between Rose and the Doctor was brilliantly done, but it got very dull watching Martha pine after him.

As for Rose, wonder what she's been upto in the alternate universe. Anyone think she and Mickey got back together?

Sally Sparrow is excellent in every regard, and Blink was a great episode. (Well, with the exception of the 'evil' statue-creatures not even killing anyone, just sending them back in time).

By comparison Love and Monsters was dire. Not as bad as the last season finale, but still awful.

I'm not sure about having Dr Light next season. They could just say it's off for a year then have a proper series, but I suppose it depends how well they do the four (or so) specials. I do hope Catherine Tate (Tait?) gets murdered.

I hope not - the last meeting with the Doctor would make it all a joke - they were telling each other of their love for one another weren't they!

I just stumbled across the above article when browsing the BBC website (and came here wondering if anyone had posted it yet and curses, you had, Coolhand :p) Three companions? Whoa. It will be interesting with the clash of personalities, I guess. Rose and Martha will both be fighting for the Doctor's affections (blah) and then I hope Donna just wades in, slaps them both and tells them to get over it! :D I hope it won't be too much of a focus though -- there was enough sighing and sorrowful eyes all over the place when there was only one assistant. It'll be interesting to see how they all work together, perhaps. And it won't be for the entire series, too.

And whoa! Is this really RTD saying this?
A separate show based on Rose had been planned by writer and series producer Russell T Davies, but was scrapped when Davies decided the programme was "a spin-off too far".

:p) Three companions? Whoa.

Doesn't, linguistically, mean they'll all be concurrent. Just three within the season...

However, given Rose is theoretically trapped, there'll need to be something major to bring her back. Unless it's somehow in her own earlier timeline, between meeting him and Torchwood Tower.

True, true. I know Martha's not back until halfway through the series and Rose is only back for three episodes, so it might mean that they won't be all together. But for one overlapping episode it might be entertaining (or a disaster  )
