I've been looking for a replacement for Eddings and I think I've found it. I have just read the first book of the Bitterbynde by Cecilia Dart-Thornton, I couldn't put it down. I'm off to the shops ASAP to get book 2. If anyone has read the lot let me know what you think!

:)

Never heard of them, Suzie. However, if you're looking for something Eddings-like, I've been told that my books are similarly easy to read. Take a look at the link in my signature. :)

There are also recent reviews in the reviews section on this site by Dwndrgn and Silk.

I don't mean to put a downer on things but I've read the Bitterbynde and thought the first book was absolutly fantastic, but unfortunatly didn't find that the 2nd or 3rd had quite the same magic!

The story all the way through is really good but for me it just didn't reach the potentail promissed by the first book:(

Did anyone else have a similar feeling or is it just me?

Yep, I'm with Silk. The first book was fantastic, absolutely amazing and so poetic. So very well written... The others are good, I still enjoyed them. I think that the last two just got a bit caught up in the action and resolving the story. The first was so enigmatic, things weren't spelled out, she took time on setting and characters etc.
Its probably just the age old pitfall of having tension and things hinted at, being desperate to see what happens, and then feeling slightly dissappointed when the tension is gone and everything has been spelled out...
