hi ho everybody. I have a great idea of reviving babylon 5. check this out. Q's son, Q, just wanting to do something for fun while his dad is away, transports babylon 5 and all its characters to the star trek universe. Having to adjust to this different universe of aliens and humans, we would have a new show....

STAR TREK: BABYLON 5

great idea, right?!

It's better than most of the plot lines Enterprise has had. And I'm all for the Q factor. But we'd have to be able to pick the Trek cast, from all the series combined, and make one, mixed, awesomely cool crew.

Ah, but wasn't there a bit of a fight between Paramount and (i think) Fox (or MGM) about trying to get a space-station type TV show on the air first???

The original Babylon 5 crew would remain the same with the original actors. That would be the best way. Love to see how Sheridan, Ivanova & the other Earthforce people adjust to becoming Starfleet people and how the aliens cope with none of their own kind in the Star Trek universe.

I'd like to se the Vorlons go up against the Borg, the Mimbari against the Romulans, and the Shadows against the Dominion.

B5 ships would win in each of those groups. :)

Borg would be unable to assimilate organic technology; the Minbari could've wiped out humans if they'd wanted to; and the Shadows would easily kick Dominion butt. :)

Now a more interesting match would perhaps be to see how Klingons would behave on B5, especially in the compay of Narns. :)

Generally, the Klingons are supposed to be the race that was killed out by the Centauri (the Xon, IIRC)--so if both of them realise it, they should join forces to kick the Centauri...:D

They wouldn't adjust, they'd make Starfleet join B5!

would the Enterprise replicators be able to prepare spoo according to all alien tastes? how about breen that even a Narn would like?

Well, if you want a mix between star trek and b5, there is a parody movie called Star Wreck : In the Pirkinning and its creator has it available on the internet for a free download. Well, the special effects may seem a bit outdated but he worked alone for six years on this so it is acceptable. I liked it

In the Pirkinning is great parody, and as it's a fan-run project everyone basically worked for free. The total budget was less than 20 000 bucks for a feature-length movie, and most of that went on computers. Compare that with an estimated 500 000 bucks per episode for Babylon 5... Obviously the effects can't compare with professional studios today, but they certainly match the level professional TV reached ten years ago, about midway through the B5 filming.

Good news though, Universal Pictures is releasing a 2-disc version, with updated special effects.

in any battle i would have thought in the exeption of the vorlons and shadows the startrek universe ships would win
they have shield and from what you see they have a hell of alot more ships to fight with
earthforce have like 300 destroyers at most +heavy warships
federation have like 1000 attackships
900 destroyers and loads of other classes of ships that could fight plus all of there shuttles have similar capabilities to the fighters of babylon 5

;)Right On! None of the B5 ships have anything that would stand up to the Star Trek universe shielding; and what do you mean they'd kick the Borg's butt? The Borg are very good at adapting, remember? There isn't anyway they could do anything against the Borg .. Borg can survive out in the open without environmental suits in the cold vacumm of space (remember in First Contact?).;)

doroanne

Can't make it to ComicCon, but the cast of Babylon 5 and J. Michael Strazynski are coming to L.A. Elizabeth Lochley")and Peter Woodward(Galen") will be greeting fans and signing copies of the DVD at Best Buy Hollywood on Tuesday, July 31, 2007 from 7:00-9:00 p.m. This exciting event is commemorating the release of Babylon 5: The Lost Tales on DVD. The Best Buy is located on 1015 N. La Brea Ave.West Hollywood, CA10038.

Cute idea but seriously: the fundamental zeitgeists of both universes don't mix. Star Trek's universe is idealistic. People solve problems with words. Earth is at peace internally. Everything is squeaky-clean. Technology solves all. Feh.

B5's universe is messy, constantly warring, basically Yugoslavia apres-Tito writ large, as the former Yugoslavian babe actress who played Delenn once observed. And Earth is the primitives in all this--the ones whose spaceships needed centrifuges for gravity, instead of the benign quasioverlords of all but the Q (well, and the Borg).

FWIW the B5 universe is a lot closer to how things would turn out if FTL drives were possible.
