Official Dark Knight trailer.

Looking very good. Though Ledger's voice sounds so different - I wonder if they've touched it up digitally, sorta like they did with Christian Bale's at points during Begins.

Strange... the Joker's makeup looks sloppy in every frame. If it started out neat, I can see how it would get messed up sometimes, but for it to be like that ALL of the time indicates that he puts it on sloppy in the first place, as if he's in some kind of manic fit whenever he does it. That's not how I've seen him represented before, and it contradicts the thorough tidiness of his clothes, at least in the still image I've seen of him sitting in jail (great body language there BTW: tightly controlled for now but clearly ready to go berserk at a moment's notice). Is sloppy makeup consistent with his comic book look? Does it look that way because he's out of control while putting it on, or because he wants it that way and makes it sloppy on purpose?

From what I've gleaned, Delvo, the Joker in DK isn't that close to the comic book version. They've taken 'artistic licence' on the character a bit for the movie. So in the movie his 'makeup' is deliberately sloppy. In the comics it isn't makeup.

Michael Caine quote re the make up

When you see the make-up — he looks like he’s mentally gone. He puts the make-up on to disguise himself and then goes and never takes it off again, or washes, so gradually it looks like leprosy.’

Makes sense for a psycho:D

if it's makeup then it looks like they are going to part from the comic, sigh. There are different accounts of what happened before the chemical bath which bleached his skin but I think most stories have the joker "born" after coming out of the vat of chemicals. It was interesting reading on Wikipedia. Looks like they won't be going into his origins at all; he'll just be a mystery. Looks like the main theme will be "escalation" from the last lines in BB

Ledger i never thought too highly of but he looks pretty good as The Joker, the voice is what i expect from a sicko like him.

Only minus is that i dont like the look of Joker , way too little white paint, green hair.

Cant believe they can mess up the most important thing with Joker. If the look is wrong then its just like some clown, not THE Joker.

I mean how would Batman look like if he didnt have his Bat symbol and his dark look....

Actually, though I was intensely skeptical about the idea of seeing the Joker again, I find this take on him (at least, what I've seen in the trailer) quite intriguing. There's a teaser trailer that has no visuals from the film, just audio, that has some different dialogue, which is quite consistent with this more menacing version of the character -- a mainspring just ready to snap and fly off in any direction without you knowing quite when or in what fashion. So... I'm up for this one. Looks much better than 99% of what's coming down the pike... Make that 99.9999%.....

Looks cool. I hope they keep any love story to a minimum. I think that was what held back the first movie.

Finally saw the full trailer recently. He looks nice and scary, but you're right, definitely not like the true version of the comic Joker. That kind of bugs me, but if they continue his character in future Batman movies, maybe the green hair and "cleaner" Joker makeup will develop over time. I'd like to see him in future Batman movies if Heath pulls him off well in this one.

I think the "messy" joker looks a lot more psychotic and makes him a lot better looking.

And we've seen a "cleaner" joker before, why see the same?
