Okay, so it's not really a game, but it's KIND of fun. I need help from the creative readers/writers. I'm on this panel to come up with a new name for a company. We've brainpurged through meeting after meeting, and it seems nearly all names are already taken. So I'm thinking of venturing into more mythological, perhaps science based, or really anything to get outside the 'everyone has used this realm'.

Some of the things they want to convey (and this is not all inclusive or exclusive--could be anything at this point), are leadership, Innovativeness, progressive, resourceful, champions, guardians, you know....the usual corporate crap. But it can't be so weird it doesn't roll of the tongue fairly easy.

Any ideas? Because my brain is mush. I thought Paladin was great but that was cast out.

I think you should present the ones you thought of before you turned it into the group effort. The names you took to the meeting were better than the suggestions that came out of it.
I especially like the ones centered around the words Icon and Innovate (Innovitae???)
I keep trying but my brain is mush also.

Also, what types of products/services does this company offer? That may help to make a more conforming name...

There's the rub. It's a health care managment co, but the new head is looking for something to make it sound more 'modern' and less warm and fuzzy.

Well, it's after three in the am and I just got off a double shift so these ideas might sound awful, but I'll throw them out for you...

Haleo (a mix of 'hale' and 'halo' pronounced just like the latter)
Health Nova (health and innovation)
Sympatique
Empatique
Sympath
Aurora (no idea why that popped into my head)

and now it's bedtime.

Go for a unique name - to myself, the internet is the future of business, and the internet has shown that unique names are superb for branding purposes. Acronyms are fine, but if they are too short, you'll not a get a domain for them. Keyworded names on the internet are moving pretty much towards "spam" territory, and may be shunned by consumers in the longer term.

2c. :)

Thanks, those are great suggestions! Oddly, I had been playing with innovative and nova as a root word.

I think you're right Brian, which is why I've been trying to develop a hybrid word of some sort, kind of taking two roots and bastardizing them. The crazy thing is, even most of THOSE are taken when I google them! I had no idea there was such a mad shortage of original words out there.

Exhibit A:I just googled Aurora and there's an Aurora Health Care in Michigan. lol Note to others....don't ever take on a project like this. It's not fun, and it's not like writing fantasy worlds.

There is also the visual aspect of the word or name to consider. What will it look like in a logo, letterhead, etc.?

Lots of really big companies go with the initials thing: ATT, EMI, PG&E, etc.

I tried some "healthy" word exploration:

Vytel

eNeRe

elance

Ethusa

Eeek - I don't know! I tried. :p

Hmmm, looking at your keywords and the other posts I spontaneously came up with:

Jova Nova

There you'd have mythological Jupiter and the innovative thing. ... Dunno, I didn't google it. But maybe it'll kick your mind into producing something great. :)

Thanks guys, those are cool. Vytel already exists, but I like that one. Wonder if adding an extra L at the end would make a difference?

the jova thing did get me thinking. I hadn't thought of any J words thus far.

If you're looking at nova and aurora then you're not using unique names. :)

Bastardise both:

novara
novora
aurova
auraro

Personally, I like "Aurova", and a quick check of WHOIS suggests it's free. :)

Yes, but it's a toss up between a unique name or an already existing word that isn't over-used. The other problem is they don't want it to end in an A for some reason.

The best I can offer is Panacaea, untaken in the correct spelling and appropriate, yet inherently dorky.

Or maybe Rememdium, perhaps.

Or the Gruntmeister 5000

Although the first ends in "a".

Helix
(as the centre of things? and a matrix of invaring complexity) sorry i'm sick and medicated at the moment

How about the Name Sonom?
I used the name Solomon and modified it.
Or Ladanzo
Niva Cron (Changing Nova and part of the god Cronus)
